Waiting list here is several months, even though the one factory is here, as most slots here are for US 328i

I've told my dealer I will be without a car for 2 weeks, which should apply some pressure. They are yet to confirm that it will be delayed, just a heads up that it is likely.

Here the New car sales manager has all the info on the dealerships slot allocations for months in advance. The normal sales people dont have this info Have they given you a BMW order number or VIN number yet ? The order number here is issued by BMW when the slot is allocated, which can be months ahead of time. It then Changes to a VIN number close to production

I don't feel so bad now. I'm in Singapore, ordered 22 Feb and have been told to only expect delivery of my 328 in July. Sounds like it's not far from when Australian orders are being fulfilled.
...although if it's true the N20 engine is in shortage, then it'll throw my already long wait into the "unbearable" wait category.

Should become easier and easier to buy from stock as the weeks go by. However, if you wanted a specify setup......then yes, you are correct.

6 months is longer - our M-Sport cars. Maybe 5 months to go now, who knows?
I had a 4 month wait for my E90, only because the 325i was a May build, as opposed to the 320i & 330i both being immediate build back in Feb '05. (Maybe even earlier build)

When I ordered mine, I was given a production number, were you? How can the dealer sell your slot if you have a production number to track?

Unless the car flops (which it wont) my guess that will change some as soon as the initial orders sell. I remember when I got my 335i in 2007, it was almost a year after release before some dealers had stock again.

Our M5 or M6 waiting lists are often about 12 months

I ordered my 328i in The Netherlands end of March. I've seen the official order by the dealer and it says:
Date Order: 30.03.2012 PW dealer: 18/05/2012 PW BMW NL: 18/05/2012 PW factory: 21/05/2012 LW prognosis: 23/06/2012 And the dealer told me delivery week would be week 25. So no real delays here it seems... |

WOW ... thats a long time. I think an expectation should be there if an agreed delivery timeline has been set, or some sort of compensation should be given for the inconvenience caused.

In the Caribbean it's about 5 months between placing your order and receiving your vehicle.
Most people just go with what the dealers have in their current stock, and they say they aren't stocking the 328i. At double the cost of the car in the US they don't feel they will have many buyers I suppose |

Aww shucks. I'm in Munich in May/June, so was hoping I might ask to see my car before it gets on the boat.

Lots!
Quite a lot of options were already selected by the BMW distributor - priced at S$215,000. I added Sport line, Lumbar support, HK system, front PDC & rear camera for another almost S$7,000. Total just a sliver under S$222k (about AUD171k, Euro135k, USD176k). Now I can't even go drool over it...
