Hmm seems like maybe the Merc is your answer then? I would think any other BMW in the 3 or 4 series range would just feel like a step down in terms of interior comfort and luxury unless you went the full individual route, but at that point you'd be nearing 5 and 6 series pricing so it wouldn't really make much sense to order a 3/4 series in that price range.

Get the C450, you wont regret it.
I have owned more MBs than BMWs. And recently just bought a C450. The interior is a big upgrade from my w204 C63. The power is nice as well. There are already tunes available. It makes a Great DD as well. If anyone is complaining about maintenance cost, you shouldn't even look at a MB. Its not a 3 series where everyone can afford to lease one. On the other hand, The gran coupe is a nice vehicle. |

So i drove the 435xi gran coupe today along with a 340xi. SOLD. I am waiting until i can order the 440xi gran coupe. The car has a much more dialed in feel to me than the C450 had. The engine and transmission are perfectly synced. The new B58 engine felt a lot more responsive to me driving back to back you can feel a very significant difference. Feels almost like a 60hp bump! I love the comfort of the GC and it seems to have a little more rear seat room vs the C450 as well. The MB is REALLY good but i feel more in control with the gran coupe. The interior in red looks really awesome as well! Thats how i will order it. Mineral gray with coral red M sport. Wish i could get a 6mt but the 8 speed zf is sweeeeet!!!

Someone on here was able to get Merino leather seats and dash on their 435GC. I would look into that on your 440GC if you are ordering. Won't feel cheap at all then.

I had a 450 and got a 435 gc, the Mercedes is built like garbage everything will make noise and rattle, not a smooth car at all to dd, If you do decide to get a 450 test drive the one you are going to buy, as some of them have noise issues, I got tired after 3 months of owning it and got the 435 gc so far its been perfect but only had it for a month and the hatch wow it is perfect, went in to buy an m3 and walked out with a gc. Hope this helps

I'd have to agree with the rattles, since the new facelifted mercedes, they haven't been built solid, I've heard a bunch of electrical to rattles and squeaks on the new C300/400/450. Which makes sense as they redesigned a bunch of things.

I'd go C450 or even IS350 IMO

Another idea is to get a 996 C4S. AWD, 4 seats, good to go. A good friend of mine used his 996 TT for skiing trips in Colorado. wasn't really an issue other than ground clearance from time to time |
