I just ordered the Wagner Comp IC from Germany and will hopefully install within a week or so. What do you suggest I'd use to get the data before/after? An OBD2 ELM327? Any suggestions about iOS app?

UPDATE: Bought an OBD2 ELM327 and use DashCommand for iOS to log data.

Hi,

I went yesterday to wagner office in germany to test those 2 new intercoolers.

The difference between evo1 and 2 is that evo2 is bigger. So it has better cooling.

I will make a nice detailed review this weekend and put it online!

Will keep you posted.

Do you guys think the ER FMIC or Wagner Competition unit is better? Looks the ER unit is a lot larger...

Both are quality products, i have not seen direct comparison between the 2
But if i had ti guess, i would say the EVO 2 and Evolution Racewerks will have very similar results

On the road you probably wouldn't find a discernible difference but I'd sway ever so slightly to the ER because of the larger size in regards to tendency to heat soak.

Every pull/run will be a little different when we factor in good ol human error...

We have seen a lot of independent testing and got lots of positive feedback from our customers
Wagner FMIC offers a noticeable upgrade over stock

Instead of explaining it, here's a video I just made. I think it makes more sense if you can see the clip on the charge-pipe out of the car

Sorry for the shaky-cam - cellphone+chargepipe+clip and only 2 hands

wow this video is a life saver. I screwed with those clips for an hr and then gave up and put it back together. Now that I know how they work it will make it easier...

Thanks for posting it!

Having run the stock IC and the ER IC at Lime Rock, I'll have to HEAVILY vouch for the ER - I had massive heat soak and would limp in stock mode after the 2nd run (and continued in 3rd and 4th).

With the ER IC, not only did I not go into limp mode, but I had no drama between runs and no loss of power (didn't measure temps). I'm a believer and hoping ER comes out with an Oil aux cooler!

The Wagner evo2 comp is larger than ER, according to claimed volumes. No?

It's not. Wagner doesn't account for the negative space of the non-stepped area in their dimensions.

The VRSF Race and ER are both larger than the Wagner options in terms of overall volume.

In my opinion, best intercooler size is based on mods and ambient temps .. Even if you track the car, if you are not heavily modded you are better off with a quality 5" intercooler

I apologise for asking a rather daft question regarding an upgraded intercooler here - but does a larger intercooler (like Wagner and the likes) increase turbo lag? With a larger volume, won't the pressure of the boost drop? Or am i technically wrong? Thanks!
