Can You Code a Blank FOB Key - OBD Port to the New Model
Just watched the BMW FOB Key programming video on you tube, realise its an older year model where you have to stick the FOB key in at the end to start the car.
But all the initial coding and stuff was done with the FOB key next to the programming unit. So wondering if the new cars are at risk as well? Or does the new BMW car/FOB work differently so that you can not code it using the programming unit? |

There's been some discussion around that in another thread - around here somewhere just can't find it right now.
The vulnerability seems to stem from being able to code a blank key from the OBD port with the vehicle's ignition switched off. Also being able to break the drivers window and plug in to the OBD port without triggering the vehicle's alarm. BMW have not commented, so don't know if, for example, the new F30 requires the ignition to be on in order for the key programming function to work.
