Question Crazy Q: Think BMW would do something like this...?

Hey guys,

This is a crazy question and I'm almost most definite of the answer already, but here we go.

My friend has a 2006 BMW 325xi that he is returning as his lease is up in a month. I have a 2006 BMW 325i that I own.

Both of our cars are more or less the exact same, same mileage, same color, both manual etc... obviously his is all wheel drive.

Do you think BMW would knowingly somehow take my car as the "return" and I keep my friends car? Obviously there is paper work to do etc... but is that even a possibility?

I dont even mind paying a little more for it... anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Thanks

I would think they'd check the VIN numbers of the cars they're taking back.

Haha this is the kind of idea that I'd come up with while smoking some good stuff on the beach at night.

Why don't you just return a used Civic that has about the same residual value. That way you can keep both BMWs. I'm sure they won't mind.

No, they will not unless you are friends with the owner of the dealership...

haha i figure it was worth a shot.
i just want my friends car because it is an all wheel drive
and maybe it wasnt clear but i had no itentions of ripping off the dealer, obviously they would know about the transfer. I didnt want to scam them and try and "Switch" the cars, I know about something called the VIN number.

Thanks

haha you serious?
read my first post again.

I clearly mention that the dealer would "knowingly" take the trade.

Before you mock me and point fingers, learn to read properly.

As ridiculous as it sounds... if you're willing to PAY for the transfer, I'm not sure why they wouldn't -- since both are BMW's... the only thing is, they'll probably ask you to fork up a lot of money... i.e. they'll consider your car a trade in and "sell" you your friend's car.

BMW 'no', not w/o selling you the car at a markup. (unless the residual is way high, which it is probably not).

You can probably work a deal with your friend though -- get him to buy the car off-lease (probably cheaper than you would get the same car from the dealer) and they you buy it from him, giving your car to him in exchange so he can have a trade-in for his next lease or purchase, and settling any value difference with a little cash up or down. ♠

Your friend's car will be up for sale by the dealer. Why don't you buy it trading in your current car? This way, it's perfectly legit.
