no more rear day time running lights?

im waiting on my 2014 335 msport, and have been paying close attention to f30's on the road while i wait. i noticed that the f30's do not have the rear lights on all the time like the previous generation or my current 128i. i really liked the lights being on because it shows off the swoopy design of the taillights. any ideas as to why this generation of the 3 series does not have this?

thanks,

I'm not sure why this feature is not longer enabled, but it can be easily activated via coding.

I'm guessing to save on power consumption, given the alternator is no longer permanently in operation?
