F30 in the desert (Coolant)

Bimmers,

Coming from a 2002 VW Passat, I have noticed that the F30 when restarted after a brief 1-2 hours stop goes back to low temperatures quickly. Is there a technology that BMW uses to cool down the car? if not then why does it cool down quickly.

Having said that, I live in Saudi which is very hot in temperatures specially in this season the lows are around 35 degrees celsius and the highs could reach 50 degrees sometimes!

Don't forget that its harmful to warm up the car on idle and you should drive it moderately until temp goes up

Cheers

The electric water pump might help. Instead of relying on engine RPM like a mechanicallly coupled pump, the electric pump can circulate more or less volume depending on temperature. Mechanically coupled pumps need increased engine RPM which in turn, produces even more heat to transfer.
Just a thought.

You must be thinking that the temp gauge shows coolant temp. It doesn't. It's an oil temp gauge. Not only that, it has a suppressed zero. The lowest reading on it is 160º F. That's the internal temperature of well-done roast beef. Even in the desert, it takes continuing combustion to keep the oil hotter than that.
