Is this grounds for divorce?

Was telling my wife about the X3 40i tonight. As an X3 driver I thought she would be interested to hear about.

Still recovering from the feedback .....

"Why can you not just look at normal cars".

Makes me appreciate Mrs Tengocity, who indulges my car obsessions. It's the deal we have for me not having a motorbike!

My wife also indulges my car dreams and let's me buy what I want as she knows I won't overstep it.

Because of her great attitude we picked up her brand new Golf GTi today, if she was less keen on motors it would have been a 1.4 boring wagon.

I got told "why do you always want the fastest, most powerful car?"

Still I'm also told if you can afford it, it's up to you.

We looked at an X3 but the ride in the back was imo really poor vs the 335d xd.

Also it just felt a bit cheaper and more upright, and had less room.

I'm not sure I could live with the added costs and reduced luxury just so it was a bit higher.

Think you need to trade her in for a new model as well

This would definitely be added costs.

I gather the new one is a step up in refinement.

Wife has the previous model. 2017 20d with variable dampers, tbh, I think it’s more refined than my 330d and, with the exception of the engine, it’s a better car.

When my wife got her X3, I wasn’t sure about it. I hadn’t really seen it, and she had done the test drives.

I have previously had LR Freelander and 2 x MLs, so have a bit of experience of SUVs.

I find the X3 a nice place to be both a passenger and a driver. The cabin is a lot bigger that 3er and everything feels just right. I haven’t driven car without variable dampers, but this one just feels right with them. My first drive of the car was to York. It was a comfortable motorway cruiser as well.

It isn’t the fastest thing on the road, but it does everything you ask of it.

Not sure this makes sense or helps you?

Just curious really. Mine ticks all the boxes for what I need but occasionally, just occasionally, I run out of space to put stuff. The 3 can also be horrifically noisy with tyre roar, is the X3 any quieter?

The new one is a MAHOOSIVE improvement. I was exceptionally impressed at the X3 launch as was my wife who is not a car fan...so much so that my wife now keeps hinting that she would quite like an X3 M40i

Hmm, a F31 340i and X3 M40i...

feck it, I’m close to pulling the trigger. Might wait to see if the deals get any better although 8% isn’t bad as the X3 was never discounted heavily. APR isn’t great at 5.9.

There is a lot more space in X3.

I don’t find the tyre roar bad - that’s partly why I only wanted 19” wheels. May also be because the noise proofing is better.

Any more questions, let me know!
