Only 6,000 after oil change?

Hi All, is below situation normal?

Today I went to Sears Auto Center for a oil change. After oil change, I see that the next oils change service is due in 1 year or 6000 miles. Only 6000 miles? I paid $50 for full synthetic oil. Shouldn't it be like 10,000 or 12,000 miles?

The car can't sense what oil was put into it, it's based off your driving habits since you don't drive much

They can choose how long the intervals are when they reset it. Personally I think 10-12k miles between oil changes in cars with turbos is way too long. I change mine around every 5k miles never past 7k. Changing the oil in these car is very easy to do. Just make sure you have the right oil. Hope this helps

The interval is 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Your iDrive is telling you that it expects you to hit that 12 months in 6,000 miles. Considering you have 25k on a 4 year old car I'd say that's about right, unless you start driving more.

Do you know how they do this? I change mine every 6k regardless of what iDrive tells me. I'd love to set it to default to 6k permanently.

Do a search here on the forum for 'Oil Reset' it will let you know how to do the reset yourself and during that process you can choose mileage for next reminder

Sweet! I've done the reset before, never paid attention to see about resetting the miles. Thanks!

They can change the interval as was mentioned with the correct diagnostic tools. I made mine 8K since I'm a somewhat aggressive driver and never actually make it that long.
