5 Days in QC, Is This a Bad Thing??
So I have been tracking my 428 Grand Coupe through the build process to see it pass through body shop in 2 days, paint for 1 day, and assembly for one day. Than it sat for 5 Days in Quality control and it still there. I called the BMW Genius and they had no idea what is going on.
Is this a bad thing???? |

I just took a plant tour in South Carolina when taking delivery of my 428GC. There was a special "holding/testing" room for cars that are pulled from the line. I was told cars end up there for 2 reasons. The first being something was flagged as non-conforming in their QA checks. The other was that random vehicles are pulled for additional 200 (approx. can't remember the #) point inspection and testing. It's like further QC check to make sure that all the cars coming off the line are perfect.
So your car could just have been one of the random checks, or there could be a problem. The guide explained that cars with deficiencies detected at the factory are often not sold. But the number was very low. There was a special room for non-conforming parts to be "tagged and bagged" and the part and the vehicle awaited inspection from the vendor of the parts at issue.

My GC has been sitting for 8 days after production and the geniuses at BMW can't tell me when I can expect it to be shipped. The BMWUSA website still lists the car as "in production".

DrivenbyE30, really?
Let's not forget who the customer is and why BMW actually exists. "I'll get it when I get it" Please! Unlike you who probably waited 6-8 weeks for your car, I ordered mine August 22nd! I think they can give me an accurate update when I ask for it.
