It's arrived...

I finally have it - well had it... I took delivery and then drove it down to road to get the windows tinted..! I get it back in a few hours.

On the 3 mile journey i did not get much chance to play with anything but i did press the driving mode button button and got a surprise. My car is a manual so no interaction with the auto box when in sport mode obviously - it was making me wonder what sport would actually do on a car with no auto and no adaptive anything..

Anyway, driving down a straight road in 4th gear, foot just resting on the pedal, i suddenly remembered about the driving mode button so i pressed it.. it felt like a small kick in the back! Very surprising.. but welcome! I did it a few times to prove it wasn't anything to do with me pressing the pedal or anything.

Pretty neat!

Here's a quick picture of the car... Will take more when i get a chance.

It's a company lease car and they don't bother with all the pomp and ceremony of the dealership collection.

It was delivered directly from the BMW Distribution Centre in Thorne. Delivery driver set of at 4am this morning!

It was a very nice looking Z4 but didn't notice anything else about it - I was a little distracted.

Will get some pictures posted up over the weekend. I must say that any pictures do not do the lines on the car justice. It looks so much nicer.

Stock Z4 wheels, white F30 on 19" looks far more
impressive than blue Z4, just my opinion.

Will do, thanks for the heads up on the window tintng too. Went to Solar screen on Thursday afternoon and they did a top job.

Took the car out for a spirited drive last night and I'm very impressed. My last beemer was a 2005 E91 and I have to say this car is far better. The driving experience is top notch as you'd expect. The balance on the steering is just right. The gear shift is just right, not too notchy but not too sloppy.

There are a load of little features which are pretty neat - don't know if any of these were on the later E9x's

Cruise control - Little LED that dances around the outside edge of the speedo to indicate what speed you've selected coupled with a numerical display on the dash is a really nice detail.

Hill Start assistance. A bit strange at first, but getting to like it.

I'm loving the AW. To be honest it would not have been my first choice but with a limited allowance for options I couldn't stretch to a differnent colour. I'm not disappointed at all, it's a bit of an off white rather than a pure white and it really looks nice. The 19's are slightly dark a look the business with the white paint.

Niggles:

Reverse sensors stay enabled (beeping) after taking the car out of reverse. I naively suggested to someone else on the forum a while ago that taking the car out of reverse kills the sensors but I was wrong... I'm sure there is a way, just haven't found it yet.

Driving mode. Really frustrating that this defaults to Comfort mode each time you restart the car. I've seen other threads on coding so I'll be looking into this soon.

More later... Hope to take some pics today or tomorrow... Almost reluctant to do it in a way as they really won't do it justice... Will try to get the best out of it.

Nice one, looks good in White.

The reverse sensors do stay on for a while, probably not beneficial unless you have front sensors too, but they stay on so you can centralise the car in the parking space.

So I've just had a quick look in the manual.

Seems there is a button to deactivate the sensors but my car does not have that button. The button also disables the rear view camera, but I don't have the camera.

So my 'button' to turn them off is the start/stop button! No biggie, can cope with that!

Re-code to come on only when in reverse if it annoys you?

If you can do that then it would be useful, not sure the re-code options are that tunable though. Will look into it once I've got a cable sorted. It's not a big deal really, just a little poor that the idrive system is showing the symbol of a button that my car does not have...

Wouldn't have been so difficult to check to see if the button was present before displaying the symbol for it...

Awesome pics Spacebug!

Looking super fresh in white. Those wheels set it off. Making me kinda wish I chose the standard white and added the 19's instead of EBII! Damn you! Ha ha.

Thanks NISFAN!

Went for black leather with hexagon and piano black trim. When the car arrived it had EBII trim...! I was a little annoyed but i'm kinda liking it now. Made me think about what other, maybe more fundamental, things that can go wrong on the options list.. I checked my order and it definitely says Hexagon and piano black!

Thanks Glackster. I always had to have 19's so the colour was forced upon me, i'm happy with it now though. EBII srill rocks though! I spent years with my E91 wishing it had 19's so was at the top of my list this time.

Here's a naff picture of the interior - wrong exposure..
