BimmerTech Audiotec Fischer PP82DSP AMP Retrofit

Thoughts? Are they utilizing Technic harness? Decent amp retrofit?

Can be found HERE

Edit: I have Standard S676A HiFi

BimmerTech/Helix PP82DSP uses a custom designed Technic PnP HiFi harness.

As the HiFi OEM amp direct replacement, the PP82DSP provides about 4-5 times the output power, a 56-bit fully user-adjustable DSP, subwoofer outputs and remarkable sound quality, volume, clarity and stereo separation improvement over the OEM amp, even with OEM speakers.

And obviously, 100% PnP.

Coming from (in my opinion) THE best source for BMW Audio upgrades, AND using your harness... I'm SOLD!

That's great to hear! How would this amp work with Bavsound Stage 1 speakers? I just got the speakers and am wondering how much more improvement the amp would provide. If it would be significant then I would definitely consider replacing the amp.

In your opinion, would this amp + bavsound speaker perform better than the factory Harmon Kardon setup?

guys I have been using this product for over two yrs. now.. its is so easy to install and makes a huge difference. if you don't want to upgrade your speakers but want kick but sound, this is your device. Even upgrading your speakers and this is killer. Kills the junk hk , and the even worse alpine upgrade.. Patryk will be more than happy to sell you one.

If this is used with Harmon Kardon, will Logic 7 processing still work?

The best HiFi upgrade for the price is still replacing the OEM amp. Whatever improvement you feel that you obtained by swapping the OEM speakers with the BSW set would have been even more significant by swapping the OEM amp with aftermarket and keeping the OEM speakers.

The best HiFi upgrade still is replacing both the OEM speakers and the OEM amp.

Yes, for the mere fact that the PP82DSP can be tuned to your exact audio taste and any further addition (trunk sub, additional amp) would be much easier and straightforward to perform. It is quite difficult and complicated to perform all that in the OEM HK.

So, in your opinion, upgrading the amp is better than upgrading the speakers? I assume the combination of more headroom/power, good EQ and maybe tweaking the crossover gets the most out of the OEM speakers. I may do both eventually but I'm trying to decide which comes first.

BTW, where's the amp located in the F31 wagon? Is it under the cargo floor? The BimmerTech site says compatible with F3x so I assume the wagon has the same amp mounting even if it's in a different site than the sedan.

The OEM amp is located in the same spot as in the F30, left side of hatch/trunk behind left rear fender.

When you say "fully user-adjustable DSP" are the adjustments on the amp itself or there will be an additional menu on the iDrive controls?

There is no aftermarket unit in the market that changes the iDrive OEM software at all. Never been.

I installed the BSW speakers into my car yesterday, and the sound is much, much better. I can now hear the mid-range and the good vocals, which were previously absent in the stock HiFi speakers, especially in my M3 which has more cabin noise.

I am very pleased with the BSW speakers but I am now wishing for more bass. I don't need whole lot more but just a little more. In your opinion, would adding the Bimmertech amp help with that and provide some more bass, or should I just look into replacing the underseat subwoofers? Are there any on the market that are a direct swap with the stock ones?

Real bass only comes with power. The OEM amp lacks power. No OEM woofer replacement will give you the bass that you want with the OEM amp.

The PP82DSP provides that power.

Great! Thanks for the advice and it looks like I'll be ordering the PP82DSP!

Would the JBL MS8 provide power like the PP82DSP AMP? I have the MS8 and Bavsound Stage 1 speakers sitting in my living room already just wondering if I should sell the MS8 and buy the PP82DSP instead...

Hi Technic, installed the BSW in my F30 HIFI over the weekend. Very happy. And now waiting for the bimmertech amp arrival from the group buy. in your opinion, you mentioned the 2 under seat subs will be more powerful and sub is all about power. as the amp is like 4-5 times powerful to the OEM hifi amp. do you think the bass increase was really significant?

Another thing, When I was reading other review in the forum. It mentioned that for the M4 with BSW speaker and bimmertech amp/dsp, it needs to have "ASD" off. is this the same case for my F30? And where can i turn it off?

Thanks.
