I received this confirmation from my dealer this afternoon:

Quote:
Bluetooth streaming will be standard for your car – the Navigation systems are getting some upgrades in week 10 which your car will have. The CPU is more than twice as powerful, graphical components have been upgraded to enable animations and smoother page transitions, and Bluetooth streaming added.

Not a precise date no - although car is being built week 12 and dealer did originally say I would be able to pick it up in week 14. A 2 week turn-around seems optimistic to me?

The present system, same as my E90, works for a puncture. I had one on the motorway a few years back. Drove on to the next services and found a screw stuck in. Put some more air in and drove on. 5 miles later it went boing again. So, drove the 100 odd miles home.

The limitation is not knowing which corner, and how flat the tyre is. The next day there was still 1.8 bar left. Tyre was apparently still repairable. But, too low on tread to be worth it.

So, new system would have provided much more information in this circumstance. On the move monitoring etc.
The F30 does flag up which tyre is punctured.

One downside to the individual TPMS is if you fit non Run flats and use the glue/compressor. Once glued the TPMS valve stem needs replacing....an extra £60-70 on top of the new tyre

Only a fool would fit non run flats to a run flat spec'd F30 though surely?

Waiting with interest for your report on 4 regular tyres, looking in this direction myself potentially next time...

Simple question... If Business is getting the EBT (bluetooth streaming), does that mean Professional is as well?

I've tried searching the various threads but to no avail.

Absolutely yes, see my post further up I have ordered Pro Nav and did not spec EBT and the dealer has confirmed that I will be getting EBT as standard plus an updated computer with faster processor etc.

For clarity this is what the dealer emailed me with yesterday:

"Bluetooth streaming will be standard for your car the Navigation systems are getting some upgrades in week 10 which your car will have. The CPU is more than twice as powerful, graphical components have been upgraded to enable animations and smoother page transitions, and Bluetooth streaming added."

Oh the pro nav is getting upgrades too! That is new news!

Strange there wasn't anything about this is the press releases!

Apologies if I've missed this but will the cost, currently £1,990, for the Pro Nav change as a result of these updates ?

Thanks

It's apparently coming down by £100, as is the business nav.

Presume these potential changes are not seen on the configurator yet? Hmmm

So if you were in the middle of ordering a car and the dealer knew that your car would not be built until after these changes shouldn't they be flagging it to customers ?

Ummmmmm .....................

They wouldn't do that because then you might hold off buying the car, then they'd be a chance you'd buy elsewhere and they'd lose a sale!

Remember that they are just franchised dealers! It says BMW above the door but it's the other name (Coopers, Stratstone etc) that is the actual company you're buying from!

Exactly. Or at the very least the configurator should be representative of what you eventually get. Perhaps in an ideal world....

Awesome mate, i'm happy for you!

I have just emailed my lease company again to chase this up, they told me BMW would get back to them with an answer a week ago!

Thanks! Didn't have to ask to change build slots, so pretty chuffed that I "automatically" get the updates.

Also news for anyone interested in a 330d, order it NOW! According to my dealer, BMW are going to lower their deposit contribution in April.

Spoke to someone in BMW marketing, they confirmed the tire monitor and speed limiter, but no streaming for pro media. From build week ten as discussed here.....

What do they mean by "in the future"? As in after the updates?

In conjunction with the ConnectedDrive Services option, the navigation system Business can be used in future for the Concierge Services, Real Time Traffic Information and Remote Services. In order to establish the necessary online connections in an optimum manner, the new system uses the 3G standard for mobile telephone networks.

I did wonder about that, maybe it won't be activated until later in the year?
