Wheel bent and not getting replaced thru warranty

I have a 335 xi M sport with 19 inch wheels, i took wheel n tire warranty when i bought my car,i been through some potholes and afraid there might be any wheel bents.so i took for inspection today to the dealer and they found 2 wheel bents, but the tire and wheel warranty company said they only replace if there are any leaks and declined to replace. So i asked the dealer if i can drive with those bents, but didn't got any answer.donno what to do in this situation .I am thinking to get Apex PS7 18 inch wheels.

You can drive on bent rims, it's just annoying. It may be dangerous depending on where the bends are.
With that said, I'd recommend calling and flipping out on the tire wheel warranty company, and possibly contact the state attorney general since it's false advertising. You'll get your wheels covered real quick with those threats...

Hi Shivaswrath,
I went in the evening to pick the car and i again asked service team if its OK to drive with bent wheels, and they told wheel damage is minor ,it cant be seen and only noticeble when u rotate wheel, and also rear tires(14kmiles) needs to be replaced and gave a quote of $1100 for two tires and alignment.so i am thinking to get new wheels(apex ps7??) and non-RFT tires.

I will call wheel warranty company and check if there is any possibility.

What's to prevent a possible busted wheel and popped tire from you hitting a pothole too hard?.... Say tomorrow morning?

How are potholes BMW's problem? This isn't a "defect" - it's like backing into a tree and asking them the warranty your bumper.

That said, say "no" to everything that the finance manager offers you at closing. They make more money on the add-ons than the car itself. Did you buy the window etching also?

there is a warranty which you can purchase for Wheels and tires from third party sold by BMW ,it covers damage to wheels n tires approved by BMW.

To my knowledge, this is not a warranty. It's an insurance policy against future damage to the wheels and tires, not including normal wear and tear. It covers punctured tires, nails in the tire, manufacturer defects, bent wheels, pot holes and in some cases even cosmetic scuffs and curb rash.

Yep, this.

That said, I'm sure it will all work itself out when you run over a box of screws that fell off a truck and need to get the wheels and tires replaced.

The warranty covers bent rims, they should replace them.

I'd call up the dealership and have them provide a written statement that the wheels are safe to drive on and see what happens. If the bends are minor the wheel can be fixed for ~150$.

I was quoted 2k$ for tire/wheel at which point I asked what the point of it was... needless to say the dealership did not offer me anything else after that.

i guess you need rim and tyre insurance rather than warranty. In Australia, it is supplied by BMW Australia and i paid A$900 to cover 3 years with annual limits of $1400 on tyres and $1100 on rims. They charged $500 and $650 for my 19" M Sports PZero front and back Wheels, respectively. so it basically covers 2.5 tyres.

I dont have pics, dealer said the damage is not visible and can be seen only when rotated, also they send an PDF with multi point inspection which says rims needs to replaced

Correct. They should replace. i know guys that have been in exact situation and got replaced. RFT are EVIL. Particularly with 19" or 20" wheels. IMPOSSIBLE to drive either without bending at least one at some point. Ride is brutal too. I switched mine out (19") after about 100 miles. Put on DW and ride was like night and day.

Do you guys that dumped your RFTs carry a mini spare/jack around?

It would make me nervous not having one...but having said that, with my previous car, the full size, identical wheel, spare never saw the light of day in 9 years. Now that I think about it, in all my years of driving I think I've only ever had to change a tire in an emergency situation once.

I carried a Conti Kit. Compressor and slime. Had to use it a couple of times for slow leak (cracked wheel) and it was perfect. Tire guys do not all hate that slime contrary to what you will here in a few mins. ...............
