Vin checking lunacy

Hello All,

I know i shouldn't but i'm continuously checking the VIN Decoder site to see when mine moves from 0001-01-01 to a real date. It's now only five away!

The problem is, on Monday i think they made 6, on Tuesday 4 and yesterday 2 and none so far today. Where's all this famed German productivity, come on guys, get a shufty on, i don't want a Friday afternoon or Monday morning build.

First World problems, i'll relax now....

Some interesting options though, any one know what '9AA EXTERNAL SKIN PROTECTION' is?

How long after you ordered did you get your VIN?

The vin string you're checking should only be for one model e.g. 335d, so they're probably building 320d's or 318d's etc at the moment.

Is the VIN Decoder an online website? Is there an address?

Hi all sorry I am new to this. I just got the vin for my 340i today but all I see when I enter in the vin to these sites is the spec and options. Where do I see the other info like how many built etc?

Take your VIN and subtract a number, say 9 from it, and enter that which will give you cars of the same model to be produced before yours (9 cars before yours if you subtract 9 from your VIN, 1 before if you subtract 1).

See if it has a date other than 0001-01-01 as a production date...

I get it, and guess what, the car 1 before mine has a production date of 2 November so mine must be next?

I assume you just pester your dealer a few weeks after ordering to get your VIN? They're OK giving you the info?

I got mine that way. However you can also call BMW customer services and if you give them the order number they will tell you the Vin

I think it's the white skin film put on to protect the vehicle during transit.
