I'm up for it depending on date. For purely selfish reasons I'll say Sundays are better. Too busy running around after kids on Saturdays.

Nope, planning it as we go. I was thinking we should take a break halfway to refuel & refresh etc.

So currently we have the 13/12/2015, does anyone want to change the dates ?

As for route, AUSF22 or Vince recommended 'Putty Rd' for a challenging & technical drive.

Hello Chaps, Sunday's are pretty hard for me.

My Son plays in a Marching Band so they are usually performing on Sunday's and they are on the 13th.

I might be able to meet you somewhere up here for lunch though?

Now that we have the date, location & route. Now we need an Itinerary, eg. Fuel stops, mid point R&R, lunch, activity at Hunter Valley. Haven't been to the valley before

Should we just meet up outside BMR around 8 am and depart as a pack from there?

Yeah, I think you will want to have a rest stop along the way. It's a fair old hike up to the Hunter along Putty Road. About 3.5 hours from Auburn.
https://goo.gl/maps/Ry31MDCyBrM2

As I'm coming from the coast it's one hell of a long trip for me as I have over an hour just to get to Auburn. Thinking I might meet you guys in the Hunter rather than do that. I can go via Wollombi for a nice drive. We could then do a bruise around the Hunter if you're up for it.

There are plenty of places around the Hunter for a good feed. Just depends on what people feel like. Harrigan's Pub is not bad and has plenty of parking and seating. http://www.harrigansirishpub.com.au/

Would you guys be going back the same way via Putty road or take the quicker route down the M1?

I have some ideas, please don't take this as gospel and please advise if you have any alternative ideas.

It will be a long trip, over 3hrs.

If we were to meet at Mcgarths Hill Maccas and start from there we would basically be starting at a place where we can enjoy the drive without too much traffic.

There is also a PUB at the half way point called The Grey Gum Cafe https://plus.google.com/117345994157307769580/about
Its a big Motorcycle club stop but still car friendly.
This would be an ideal spot to get a coffee or stretch the legs.

Not sure about most but I will definately be going back via the M1

Here is the route in google maps:

You & Vince think alike he mentioned the same thing earlier. OK let's Meet at McGrath Hills Maccas & take the Putty Road & return on the M1. I agree, 3.5 hrs does seem quite exhausting.
