Evening!
Had a few 'hairy' moments over the past week or so giving the current road conditions.....how's everyone else finding it, obviously x drive cars will be doing just fine.....but for us in s drives its slightly different. Virge

I'm finding it an absolute blast!
Went for a nice country blast in the 335d, and this is the best time of the year to enjoy the benefits of the xdrive car. You do get immense traction, but with traction control off and you can enjoy the car moving around a bit too, as the lower grip conditions make it easier to unstick it, without going that fast.

My car is loving a bit of wheelspin, pretty fun in an empty car park though!

I'm still fairly new to s drive and I've been caught or a fair bit, but I try and learn from it each time...
My problem is putting my foot down coming off roundabouts and the car getting waaaaay to tail happy |

I'm in a 120D loan car with Bridgestone runflats, so every road is an ice rink.

What's wrong with yours Ian? You're missing out on the best conditions to have the quaife diff!

Just through the run in phase on mine now, so starting to push on a bit.
A few squirmy moments here and there, but nothing too silly. Yet

It's a bit different now I've removed the runflats. Whereas they used to slide quite progressively, the normal softer rubber snaps back into grip within a second or so.

I've driven RWD cars for a while, it's just a matter of progressive acceleration, driving to the road conditions and not treating the right pedal as an on/off switch.
The only scenario I struggle with a bit is trying to nip into a tight gap on roundabouts when you've stopped facing uphill. I usually just wait for a bigger gap. Its' quite nice to feel the rear end squirm around sometimes though at low speeds, and the stability systems are excellent at not letting the car do anything stupid. |

What part of the NE do you live, up until yesterday its been -3.5 to +4.0 for the past 8 days were I live ..... As for my car, the winter tyres are on so not too bad felt a bit light steering wise on a few roundabouts when it's been damp but that was probably the cold conditions plus diesel off buses or lorries as there was a few rainbow patterns on the road but no traction control light flashing

If you're regularly getting caught out, then stop driving like a chav from Toxteth.
RWD and winter tyres on the 325d - along with a manual box, so all the torque available from low-down, and no autobox to decide whether it wants to apply the power or not, no problems at all. Yes, the traction control light has flickered on a couple of times, but it's about using your brain and driving to the conditions. |

One down on i54 (Jaguar, Moog) has a natural tendency to 'upset' the car, it's a down and then up to the right, has caught me a few times when rushin. |
