tpms question - Sport/Sport Plus Modes
I have ordered a new set of tires/wheels for summer driving. I am keeping the OEM 18's with all seasons for winters. My plan is to not use TPMS on the new set. I realize that I will have a TPMS light on. I also have run into a situation where i had a TPMS light on for a low tire and my car would not go into Sport or Sport Plus mode. Anyone out there have experience with this? My assumption is that I should be able to since it is not just one sensor throwing an error? I have a couple of days until the wheels arrive. Oh its a 2016 340ix. Thanks alot. Charlie

i can get my car into sport and sport+ without TPMS
but why would you want to do this? your summer tires are going to be on the car for the majority of the time just take them out of the original wheels and put them into the summer wheels

Do they need pressure to send a signal. If you just reset TPMS while in glovebox will it not satisfy the car.

i think the difference is whether you have sensors and they are showing low pressure or if you don't have working sensors at all
when my sensors showed low PSI (after a track day and my tires had cooled off) i could not get the car into sport/sport+ mode until i reset the TPMS for the past month, I have been running a new set of wheels and tires without TPMS and the car doesn't stop me from going into sport/sport+ mode

i am talking about separate instances 1. i went to the track, lowered my PSI at track after track day was done, i was about to go home tires had cooled off and i got the low PSI warning car did not let me get into sport/sport+ mode i reset the TPMS through idrive ... and then it let me (i think... not 100% sure) either way, i filled up air to proper PSI soon thereafter before driving home 2. i got a new set of wheels + tires WITHOUT working TPMS so my car now gives me a TPMS malfunction warning every time i start the car and the tire warning light is always blinking but this doesn't stop me from going into sport/sport+ mode so NOT having TPMS at all doesn't block me from going into sport/sport+ but having TPMS and a TPMS warning does block me
