The 3 Series starting in 2016 has a much more buttoned down suspension. It looks like you have a 2014, that suspension is too soft and wallowy in my opinion. I do agree that the 4 series is better still, but the difference is not as drastic if you are comparing it to a new 3 series.

That's good to hear. I got this car recently to wait for the G20 when that comes out. Hopefully they get that one right from the beginning.

Actually, most people would describe the LCI updates more as a "nuance" to the existing rather than a radical change. Better? Moderately. A revelation? No.

If you had pre-lci adaptive suspension and went to lci adaptive, the difference is marginal. Going from non-adaptive pre-lci to non-adaptive lci is a huge difference!

Interesting...my experience was between my pre-LCI adaptive and post-LCI static. But regardless, most reviewers say it's improved, but not revolutionary (which I guess is to be expected on a mere update).

I am definitely glad I waited for the LCI. There's definitely a noticeable difference in suspension tuning between 2015 and '16

I went from a 2014 F31 to a 2017 F31 and the suspension setup is completly different. Much more sure footed and just better all around. Mind you I went for the adaptive shocks this time but my '14 had 18" wheels with regular tires and the '17 has 19" wheels with factory run flats and its so much better (comfort and sportiness)

Let's put it this way, i had F30 335i M sport RWD... took it in for service and got a 428i for loaner.

i made up my mind within 10 mins driving the 4 series that i need a 4 series due to the handling feel alone.

1 week later, an order was placed for a 435i GC

Whether it is because of center gravity, lower stance or somewhat different suspension components. 4 series just drives better than 3 and it is very noticeable.

But that was back in 2015. From what i heard the newest F30 has improved, but i am also sure F32/6 has also improved. So there still should be a difference.

My '15 GC handles pretty damn well bone stock, even on the awful run-flats. On roads where my upgraded suspensioned SS took at 60 and felt it was pushing the limits (on 285/40/17s on all 4 corners, big sway bars, boxed control arms, etc), my GC just yawns. It's a very well designed car. Some things don't impress me on it but the suspension is one of them...

So I just put an order in for the m performance suspension for the F30. The funny thing is that it actually uses the 435i sport suspension springs in addition to the kit dampers.

So presumably, getting the M Performance Suspension kit is basically just fitting the 4 series suspension to the 3 series. If it handles about the same, I'll be happy.

I bought this car while I wait for the second or third model year of the G20 so no way am I buying a new car now.

Just picked up a 340xi M Sport.
Even in Sport and Sport+, the suspension is SOFT!

The xDrive models all come with the standard suspension unless you get adaptive suspension option. The M Sport xDrive models don't come with sport suspension even. At least, that's what I thought.

Are there any real proof that bmw change the suspension in the lci?

It could be that alot of the dlr loaners are new cars and have newer tires with more grip

Then you really should ditch those RFT. You are missing out.

I remember i read somewhere that LCI has thicker sway bars and XX% stiffer and stuff...

I am pretty sure there is a difference.... but i dont think it is night and day kinda difference like how you go from X drive suspension to KW V3 kinda difference.

Just ACS springs, shockware and dinan anti-sway bars. Especially in sport+, I tend to forget completely it's an AWD. It's not a whole lot of modding, but it kind of makes it a 705 sport suspension setup.

My next car has to have a better handling setup from the get-go though, stiffer springs with good shocks and sways to match, I can't stand tons of body lean and flex. At least with the mods I've done it's fun to drive. No longer dives like a boat when I hit the brakes hard, etc.

I had a 2014 base 328i, and when they gave me a 2015 GC loaner there was an immediate difference in the superiority of the GC's suspension. I am now in a base (Sportline) 330i with performance tires and this car drives much better than the 2014 base, but going by memory I'd still say the GC was more capable.

How fast do you guys need your DD to handle? I, of course, would always like better, more solid handling and less body roll. But, realistically, as of now I can take corners so hard in my '15 335i Luxury Line X-drive (with good tires) that my wife freaks out and yells at me. If I go any faster, she might take it away...

I wouldn't call a noticeable difference a "nuance". But the difference certainly wasn't enough for me to even consider the price jump between a '15 and '16 model.

"Nuance" might not be the best word, but I feel my description was accurate (similar to yours).

And good point...my wife says the same! Ha!

Had to LOL at this. It's true. Even for me in my old '14 Sport Line w/ sport suspension, it's way more capable in handling (& power) than I can put to use more than 5-10% of the time.

I do find that when others are in the car, I have to back off...otherwise they're getting thrown around all over the place.

Want 6MT next time, really wish you could get it in 4 GC (here in the states).
