Do you drive aggressively enough to benefit from the MPPK? It's really only noticeable at higher RPM, above 3500 or so. If you're normally a more moderate driver, you'll likely find that the MPE makes a greater difference to your day-to-day experience.

I ordered my car with the MPE (port-installed), but the MPPK wasn't out yet (early 2013). I'd do the MPPK first by all means. You'll get the exhaust burbles, and the MPE will "emphasize" them when you get it installed.

I'm not really an aggressive driver by all means. My 335 is my daily driver to work, less than 10 miles either way. That's the reason I'm going with the MPE first. That and the cost of the MPPK and holiday's around the corner. Let it break in for a bit then get the MPPK installed.

I too have no use for MPPK as I'm not really that aggressive with the throttle but would love the get a more enjoyable exhaust. Was your MPE just the muffler that I've seem on eBay for about $900 from some dealers? Or was it the complete cat back system that comes now with the MSPPK bundle for $2,800? Thanks.

Is there a complete cat back system for the 335? I've only seen it for the 340/440.

I was thinking MPPK at first but maybe MPE would be better. With the LCI car they apparently are combined into one, but you can still get just the MPE if you want. The sport+ setting on the newer cars also improves throttle response even in stock form, which is great for off the line acceleration, especially against EVs with their instant torque. I like to surprise prius drivers who think they'll catch me off guard with their instant torque and I still launch quicker than they do and pull on them, none of this pulling ahead initially and then me leaving them in the dust crap, I launch quicker and keeping pulling on them from the start.

You want to go faster or louder? Mine with the 435 was MPPK then MPE. Nice thing about the 440 is they are now the same package.

A jb4 will cost you $200 and make it faster than an m4

Ooops! Sorry about that. I was assuming that the N55 MPE was the same as the MPE in the B58. I wasn't aware of the difference. Learn something new each day.

I think the MPE is on the quiet side as well, for some the resonator removal might do the trick.

I did talk to couple of dealership they both told no discount on labor doing MPPK + MPE together so I did the MPE first and I'm very happy with the result. I feel the car is already fast enough for daily / commute driver like me it's better to fix the sound first.

Still MPPK is on track for next week or two. I do get some discount (15% off) on labor for BMWCCA USA membership.
Really? I've seen a lot of people reusing stock tips with no issue... Just want to make sure before I spend more money on something I really don't like. I love the look of the black chrome ones and would keep them for sure...

It's just the muffler...the MPPSK is for the 340/440 LCI models with the B58 engine and includes the tune plus the exhaust. The MPPK was designed for the 335/435 with the N55 engine. It's a tune that basically raises the boost by about 2 PSI and adds the exhaust "burble", plus a new bottom half for the intake box with an additional opening for added intake sound. It also tweaks the shift points on the 8AT slightly. The MPE gives the exhaust a deeper tone.

Thank you, roundel335! That was very helpful. It's interesting that BMW created both a MSPPK and a MPE upgrade for us B58 owners. I can't justify spending >$3,000 with installing and tax for the MSPPK myself. But I can swing the $900 for the MPE. It looks easy enough to install myself based a few YT videos I saw for the 335i.

I put the MPPK on first and waited for a lightly used MPE to show up on the forum Members Classified section. I would go this route. The MPPK needs couple tanks for engine to fully adjust, then install the MPE and you can fully appreciate the sound change with the MPPK. Love those burbles!

Don't forget that the MPE for the LCI 340i requires that you purchase exhaust tips along with the muffler, unless you want to use the ones from your stock system. Not sure whether the stock muffler has to be cut off or if it's clamped on like the MPE (mine was port-installed, so I have no reference to go by). Either way, it won't be much effort. The valve actuator connection is the same as for the stock system so it just plugs right in.

I think the car still needs programming added for it to work properly.

M Performance Exhaust and M Performance Power Kit. M stands for Motorsport division. The German word starts with the same letter.
