Any +100,000 high mile xdrives on this forum?
Hello guys,
Thinking of trading my 2016 228i 6MT RWD for a new 340i xdrive 6MT. Love the 228i 6MT but I need four doors. The car will be two yrs old next month..just turned 36,000. I usually buy and keep my vehicles for 100K + miles and then hand them down to my kids. Has the xdrive systems been relatively "trouble free" for the long term ? Or would sDrive be a better long term trouble free drive train ?? How many +100K xdrives on this forum? Thanks, Bill D |

I'd be interested in this too. My previous car, an E91 I kept for 10 years and 103K miles. The transfer cases both needed repair at 80K plus miles and thankfully covered by an extended warranty which really paid off.

This is a point where if you are planning on keeping the car, you might need to consider the nature of “lifetime fill” and what the schedule for differential and transmission fluid changes should be.
