Power Down to "Idle State" Problems

When turning off the car and exiting, "Automatic Idle State" only works about 60% of the time, leaving car in "Standby State" and draining battery. Or car in "idle state" and go in to garage to get something out of it, opening door kicks it into "standby state" and it stays that way. Also, connected to this, headlights stay on until battery drained or otherwise discovered. Dealer has opened file as they say they have same issue with some other cars, but no resolution yet, other than remembering to do "manual" power down by pressing and holding radio volume button or locking car. Have now drained battery 3 times in last month.

Just curious, why do you not lock your car when you leave it?

I think this may be happening to me...but I need to spend more time and see if it is truly happening.

When I turn the engine off, as soon as I open the door, everything else turns off.

That's a setting in iDrive. Sometimes I open the door to do something and don't need the car to shut off entirely every time

I don't lock the car when I park in my garage.

When parking in my garage I typically would not lock.

Did not see this post before responding to the other thread above. Glad you are getting it looked at and hope it gets resolved for you. Crappy situation indeed.

When I shut the car down everything goes off. Haven't seen this problem. Keep us posted.
