Spring Track day 1er meet. Who's down?
Spring time is in the air and the tracks are calling. I wanted to see if we could organize a big 1er track day and run the 1/4 miles and hang out. I figure guys like Johnny, Dave and Frank would be down for this, but I wanted to get some more addicts there as well. I think it would make for a fun time running our cars and chilling. I was thinking possibly Englishtown or LebanonValley. Of course, all car guys would be welcome. Let me know what you guys think and if anyone knows the schedule for the tracks, that would be a big help to this thread.

My dad says that if I want to speed I should go to a track. Just to clarify do you mean a track like Lime Rock(It is the best for track days) or a place like Englishtown which is just a strip?
And i'm in if we go a place where they allow verts.

IDK, maybe both . I never did a track course before (and I owned an STI). I'm thinking maybe sometime in april would be great. And maybe that could be the next location for our Tri-state 1er meet.

never did it always wanted to.
also love to beat a 135 with a poor mt driver... we are only talking about a second or so difference. see how step 128 compares to mt 135. We all know they get those 0-60 #'s with pro drivers, interested in seeing what #'s you (non pro) 135 mt dudes can post. |

Dont like the word "dirty." .. but do sorta like the word "prey". ..and not bad mt drivers, just "challanged" mt drivers,...OK how bout mediocre mt drivers? might b fun either way, hey the underdog has no pressure. Hey then we could trade cars for a run, ok,ok,please!! Last edited by Midgad; 03-17-2009 at 08:44 PM.. |

Not sure about 1/4 mi, but i'd be down to track my e30 on a road course this year...perhaps an HPDE event or an auto-x?

On the website theres a pic of an S2000 with the top down being driven by a guy with just a helmet on. So i'm guessing yes, especially with verts built aswell as ours.

I think that this is fate: "The road course is 1.35 miles, and a minimum of 40' wide, save for the 1,400 ft straightaway." Look at the numbers, "1.35" and "1400" (where our torque kicks in) . Well, I know, cheesy, but c'mon. We could have one of the biggest 1er meets ever. And I would love to see how the 128i run.

But after looking at the overhead veiw of the track I think the 128s might have a legit shot. The course is mostly turns. So if a 135 has a shaky line and the 128 is spot on this could be very close because the 135 wont be able to accelerate as often, although with turbo v aspiration our torque kicks in lower. I think it will mostly depend on driver skill. But what is the plan. I see that there was link to a guy's email about renting the track out for a day. If its a reasonable price and we get enought guys to commit is the plan to have everyone chip in and see if we could rent it out?

BMWCCA runs autox events. http://www.njbmwcca.org/event_info/autocross.php
From what I know, they're very well run, though no first-hand experience (at least, not yet). Unfortunately for me, the group I usually do autox with, Motorsports NE, isn't doing any this year, as the Meadowlands parking lots aren't available. I might have to do a couple of events this year (probably in the crx, not the Benz - fat guy in heavy car equals no fun on autocross course). |
