Question Has anyone used glue/adhesive to mount the Rear Deck Spoiler?

I am in the process of installing my rear deck spoiler and noticed that you need to slightly bend the ends in so that it fits tight and perfect. I feel that the tape on the spoiler is not enough grip support to hold down the ends. I dont want to get into a situation where I have to press down on the ends everytime they popup a bit making a small gap between the spoiler and the trunk. So i bought and very strong adhesive glue (weather proof for autos) to apply under the spoiler like the installation guide says to do before i mount on the trunk.

My concern is if the glue could mess up my paint down the road or if the heat would damage anything. I just want feed back to see if anyone has donethis. I've seen in this forum replys that say they just stuck the spoiler with the tape and no glue.... any thoughts before i do this?

thanx

If you read the official BMW instructions for the spoiler http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1914

you will see you are supposed to use the special beta-link glue that you can buy from BMW

I used betalink (BMW stuff) to glue it to the trunk; not sure why some say otherwise, but that little piece of adhesive on it is not sufficient to keep the thing on the trunk. Perhaps you could use additional double sided tape; but the glue will work best, although its pretty damn permanent.

This site has great whitepaper, thks.

I like to share the DIY step-by-step photos that I did when I installed my spoiler. It has how-to visual information and some lesssons learned.

I like to thank Mo. Idris.Jason from Tischer BMW who provide me the complementary Beta-link adhesive. I almost walk off the dealership without it, , thinking the spoiler package was all i needed.

Is anybody use other kinds of glue??
Yesterday I tried to add some double side tape and install my spoiler
Althougt it can keep the spoiler on the trunk,i it is not enough grip support to hold down the ends, and it is not fits 100% tight and perfect~
I noticed that the spoiler's curve isn't 100% fit the trunk curve, ecpecially the ends
Anyone have the same problem like me??
Or I bought a bad quality spoiler??

Well~I bought the spoiler from BAVARIAN AUTOSPORT~
I guess this might the reason why the spoiler's curve isn't 100% fit the trunk curve, ecpecially the ends
But I saw the BMW logo on it
and I also saw the parts number 5171 0396 344
it is not a copy one ,is it??

Yea you're right, the spoiler is not a perfect 100% fit for some reason, the ends are slightly not snug..but I guess it will have to work.

Isn't the rear spoiler an option when you buy the car?

Why don't just get it from BMW?
