Updated 12/2/16.

Hey fellow F30 lovers. Here are a few pics and notes of my f30 build.

Having a thoroughly good time modding my 328i F30. Yes I would be doing the same if it was a 335i. No it doesn't make as much power. No I don't want a 335i, yes in a couple of years I will get an M3/4 or something crazier, but for now this is where I am and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

2014 F30 328i in Melbourne Red with M-Sport pack, M-Sport paddle steering wheel and Auto Transmission, 20" M Performance 624 Staggered Wheels and PDC among the other normal specs. Doesn't have Nav, kinda wish it did. Fortunately coding it for Bluetooth has made this bearable, since Google maps can now chime in.

Mods so far:

- Coded a few things:

Activate Enhanced Bluetooth (6NH to 6NS)
Turn off front side indicators on entry
Add Tire Pressure and Temperature
Close/Fold mirrors when holding lock on key fob
iDrive Legal Disclaimer
Macro cam legal disclaimer
Unlock doors at ignition shutoff
Allow Front and Rear Windows to be rolled up while door is open
Disable initial warning Seat Belt chimes
Disable Seat Belt reminder - Driver & Passenger
Change number of indicator flashes - locking & unlocking

- MPerformance Interior Kit - looks so much better than my burr walnut did.

- Dual exhaust conversion. needed to change the diffuser to do this. Was pretty simple and quite inexpensive. Love symmetry, nothing much else to say.

-Custom Oil Catch Can - seems to be catching some blowby. Better in there than the Turbo, intercooler, chargepipes, headers, manifolds and cylinders.

- MPerformance front spoiler.

- BC Racing BR Type Coilovers. The wheel gap was nuts, even with the M-Sport Suspension. Love the stance now.

- M-Sport replica Pedals.

- Black 328i badges. Every other bit of trim is black on my car, so changed to match. Not a fan of debadging.

- Bootmod3 locked and loaded. ACFPerformance Stage 3 tune coming soon. In the past I've had the GSR Flash, JB4 Piggyback (keeping that for future fueling upgrades) and AA Activ8 Piggyback.

- ER Charge pipes. Both sides.

- Ambient Thermal Management Stepped Intercooler. TX heat seriously levels the stock intercooler. this bad boy help that. Especially with the added heat generated by the higher boost targets and mass flow from the Hexon Stage 2 Turbo.

- 10mm front and 15mm rear BMS Spacers. This will be gone soon. HRE FF01's arrive in the next few weeks. Will be going with 19's and 275 in the rear.

- ER Catted Downpipe.

- GFB DV+ really helps with lag during shifts. Holds the boost up, dumps the minimum amount to satisfy the DME and responds fast and well to increased boost levels.

- AFR Momentum Cold Air Intake. I know it doesn't do anything for power, but it sounds awesome. With the stage 2 Turbo maybe it will free things up a little.

- Hexon Stage 2 Turbo. ACF Performance working on the tune to wake this bad boy up.

- Fuel-It LPFP. I'm nervous that the Stock LPFP wont be able to keep up with the tunes, and once I get up to 350HP I'll be adding some additional fueling (TBI or PI) so will need the extra flow capacity of this LPFP anyway.

+1000. Love the disclaimer for the haters!

About time with the pics!! Love the look! Are you diggin the BC coils You look to be pretty low. I wonder if once you get the spacers you will have rubbing issues?

yea I'm sure I will still attract some negative attention. I guess it's par for the course posting on here.

BC coils are great. very comfortable considering the drop. I have had a little rattle from the front end since installing. To be honest it could be me (despite my OCD install - they're all within 1/16"). It could also be the notorious steering rack. So I'm taking it to a suspension guru here in Austin (Soulspeed they set up a lot of track cars for COTA) for a corner balancing, alignment and adjustment next week. BC racing have also been amazing from a customer support standpoint. I must have sent them 20 emails with pics and copious notes.

Really hope there is no rubbing. pretty confident there wont be. I went with the recommendations from BMS and did a fair bit of measuring and researching others out there. if I had squarer tires I wouldn't be so confident. anyway I could always raise it up a 1/4 inch or so.

Here's my oil catch can. I bought another stock breather pipe, and then went to work on it. Also got Bob's OCC since apparently that has the best catch results.

It's hidden directly under the filter box. very stealthy.

Luckily Bob's OCC has a ball valve underneath, so I can put a plastic container down there and open the valve and see the fluids pour out. Very little caught so far, but still there has been some so I guess it is worthwhile.

That's an interesting finish on the wheels. Any closer up pictures of those?

Yea originally wanted white. Went to the dealer to get my order in and when I saw the red I was smitten. That was that. Drove home in it.

Totally agree! The tire profile makes it look tucked into the wheel well even with spacers. I've used Hankook V12s in the past on my Audi S5 and those have a more square profile.

Beautiful car and very tasteful mods! Tell us more about this Activ8 tune though
You're right about that Texas heat, the sun makes the photos really harsh

yea love all the black accents on the red. definitely need to be kept clean though. Red looks very dull when it gets dirty

RW Carbon. Install was a little tricky on jack stands. Not overly difficult though.

As the old adage goes. measure twice - cut once. I spent quite a bit of time positioning the splitter on the bumper (taping, untaping moving, retaping) before I was happy enough to drill the pilot holes for new screws and bigger holes for the existing bumper screws and plastic push pin fixings.

Then I removed it and placed some 3M double sided tape on the front lower part of the bumper, keeping the opposite backing side of the tape on. At that point I placed the splitter back up and loosely screwed in the fixings, before I pulled the backing tape off and pushed up the splitter, fixing it in place. then I tightened all the screws up and replaced the plastic push pins and screws.

Happy with the way it turned out.
