Look on your build sheet. If the model code is 173Z then it is a Germany build. If it is 17T3, then it is a SA build.

Are there major differences in a car being a German build versus a South African build?

Nothing concrete that I have found personally but there are a bunch of threads out there discussing the topic at great length.

For me, it's just a personal preference and I was under a bit of a time crunch on this build. German cars generally get to the states quicker from Germany, but at the end of the day it's a BMW and they all *should* be held to the same standards no matter the location of manufacture.

I was curious because a placed an order on 8/2 for a 340i and just looked at my build sheet and it appears it's coming from South Africa.

Awesome, congrats on the build and now the hard part of the wait begins! I'm excited to be joining the 340 club myself here very soon

Thanks! This will be my first four door car. I'll be getting out of my e92 M3. Have a couple of kids now so it just makes more sense. Very excited and ready for it to hurry up and get here.

I don't think the "my bmw" page is working properly. Or maybe it's just not loading SA builds. My car still isn't showing up there so I'm calling the 1-800 number daily. My CA emailed me about an hour ago and told me my car has been built, going through final inspection, and then waiting to get on a boat.

Hope the seas are smooth and the wind is behind them!

Wow you guys are getting your cars built quickly - I must have a crappy allocation, I ordered my car on August 5th and it is still waiting to be produced and supposedly won't get produced until September with an October delivery date.

Not sure when your production finished but it takes 1-2 days from there to Bremerhaven.. the UNDINE left port 8/23 with a load of bmws .. depending on when yers finished production it may have made that ship for NY

put in yer VIN into the cargo id field of:

Gotta admit.... I think all I did was say "pretty pretty please can I get it really quick...I really really want it"!
I'm sorta happy as to how fast this has been going. The dealer said approx first week of Oct so my expectations are not immediate. I'm enjoying the emotions of looking forward to getting it. It's kinda like my tattoos. I found the desire to want something greater than the actualization of having it. But I'm sure I'll enjoy the car..as I do my tats!

"At the port awaiting a shipping vessel"....
My poor lonely car is waiting in some parking lot for its trip home! I've spent many hours waiting in airports so I know how it feels!
