Have a look at how the new F30 3 series sedan was launched into the Australian market. The presentation featured snazzy light effects imposed onto the 3 series, similar to the BMW Moscow presentation.

Pretty cool !!

Weird that you guys are having such a late intro after everyone else...
... especially considering you are ahead of everyone on the clock LOL

BMW is destined to be a very very popular upscale vehicle!
Drawing so much desire from everyone... :P

We have actually had the 3 -Series here since the 25th of Febuary, it's just the launch that is late ! The worst bit is the pricing here! Base price is 57K++

57k AUD = 44,800 euros atm. That's for the 328i I presume?

That's also a lot of money if so. The 328i starts here from 42.5k euros without any line without anything almost....

A 320i 6MT no line starts from 35,900 euros (45.5k AUD)overhere. But a bit loaded you're already talking about 45/47k euros.

We pay luxury car tax in this country so the government can subsidise the local car industry and keep it a float. They just gave away 250 million to keep Holden (GM's Australian arm) afloat for just another 10 years.

If they didn't have this stupid luxury car tax, german cars will be a lot more affordable. I don't know wht so luxury about by a german brand. In that case when we buy Miele or Bosch in home appliances we should be pay a luxury appliance tax too. But that's not the case.

Much more expensive than in the US. We paid for the GM bailout with debt.

How's your car doing ?? r u enjoying it ??
we dont hear much from you anymore ?? what's going on?

regrets ? you better say it now, i can still cancel my order...

For fun,

my car's order exactly spec, would cost 62,000 euros in France
as opposed to the equivalent of 36,000 euros that i will be paying in the US...

it's mind booglinG ! I am getting my 335i for half of what French people would pay if they wanted the same one...

Would BMW care to comment?

Hold on a minute!

Luxury car tax has nothing to do with it. I paid $100,000 for my 135i, but only $7,895 of that was LCT!!

Even if you add LCT and GST, its still only a fraction more than VAT in the UK (17.5%).

The problem is two fold, firstly car manufacturers are criminally greedy and secondly Aussies don't understand their own tax system.

Maybe BMW could comment on why prices are so high in Australia or perhaps we should start a Facebook page to raise the issue publicly.

(Incidentally, the Holden payout wasn't to support the local industry, it was to stop Holden adding 10,000 people to the unemployment queue on Monday morning. The $275M deal is less than it would have cost Centrelink in benefit for those people for one year so its actually quite a smart initiative.)

I doubt you'll drive a brand new 335 away from dealership for less than $120,000
