Arrow 3 Series GT Spotted Again

Spotted the upcoming 3 series GT (Gran Turismo) out on the highway. As you can see, it had its retractable spoiler extended while at speed.

Expect the 3 Series Gran Turismo to debut sometime in 2013 and in both gasoline and diesel models.

One of the guys on the German e90 forum.de did just that! Another guy used some decals on his rear bumper saying: "Werkstestwagen" just like the real prototype cars driven by BMW. Both get pretty funny looks by your average motorist!

No I do not know the name of the wrap. I can ask the next time I see the owner, next month. Here are some pics of his car.

And I saw this SMARTie at the Street Culture car show in Nurnberg a few months back. This wrap looks closer to the type BMW uses.

I emailed the guy who owns that e91 wagon with the "swirls". He actually has a wrapping company so he can sell you the wrap if you want. PM me IF you want his contact info. Seems that no one makes the smaller "BMW swirls" bc it is copyrighted! lol I guess that why the wrap swirls are slightly different from the BMW testwagens.

Btw... if you want to see more pics of that 1er with the orange wheels... look here. About half way down the page.

I wonder if the 3 series GT has a longer wheelbase than the sedan.

SCOTT has suggested in the past that the 3 GT is based upon the Chinese 3 Li chassis, so it appears at this point that the answer to your question is "Yes".

The Accord Crosstour is hideous...especially riding on the thin little tires they always use. Then again, BMW seems to be using those same tires on the F30. Big part of why the braking distance sucks now.

Why BMW keep making GTs?

as far as China & a little bit of Hong Kong is concerned, 5GT is an enormous success, esp in china. I guess that's one of the reasons BMW keeps building them, despite the "failure" in N.A.

People got too carried away about the situation of their own country and failed to have a global perspective. BMW targets on the globe.

In any case, I'm not saying that 5GT, 3GT...are beautiful. But they are not ugly either. So to some people, it is actually "grand".

It may be my anti-crossover colored glasses that are tinting my perspective on the 5GT. I am a die hard BMW Touring lover so it disappoints me to see this being served to the public instead of the spectacular F11 5 series touring.

My reference to it being a failure is not simply from a sales standpoint, personally I think it is a styling failure. I see if as a failure in the direction that BMW is headed... one where I can get a useless X1 crossover, but not an economical and practical 1 series hatch. Not to mention the car's styling is far less than flattering from most angles.

Just my .02
