Headlight Access Cover

Hi,

I have a 2014 328i and want to change DRL and headlight bulbs.

To do so, according to the owners manual, you turn the circular access covers counterclockwise. Well, I can turn them only slightly and can not see what is holding them in

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

they budge slightly when using gentle pressure, but theres a sort of safety plastic piece in there that makes it more difficult.. just use pressure. You cant break anything if you turn CCW hard.

Thanks, but no matter how or what I try (including a pair of large channel lock pliers), I can't open them.

are you pushing inwards slightly? There is a large rubber/foam oring inside and it might have gotten slightly jammed

I tried again, pushing down and turning counter-clockwise. For either side, all that happens is that the cover turns slightly (less than an inch) and sort of clicks, but can not take off -- UGH

yes, the click is the little plastic tab hitting the jagged notches. This plastic tab is suppose to bend once enough force is used. I still think you need to twist harder. The first time is always going to be difficult as this tab has not stressed and is still in its original position.

Well, big UGH continues for me! Apparently, when I get the cover to turn, either a triangular piece (almost looks like an arrow tip) or an outer rail-like piece (both of which are on the cover) hit a plastic tab that is on the headlight housing top in the engine compartment.

Really feel dumb, but I think, I'll have dealer show me when I take it in for service this week.

Again, appreciate your assistance!

the little tabs start in this direction.. probably what you are seeing now..

Then they'll look like this once you open it once.

If you cant get the tabs to look like this through turning, use a pair of tweezers or screwdriver and push the tabs so they are like this. Then it won't inhibit the opening of the cover.
