R.I.P.

btw those are some strong wheels. The front left of the car is pretty much abolished but the wheel is still left intact.

Condolences. BMW needs a Ehra-Lessien of their own (besides the ring)... high speed testing on public roads is clearly asking for trouble.

Also, there is nothing wrong with BMW pillars. There is not a car currently made that would withstand the amount of energy absorbed in this crash without massive damage. Nor is there a human body that can absorb it.
Being a firefighter myself its actually kind of sad to see these pictures because I know what this person looked like. This is essentially a death scene and unfortunate that its being pasted on the Internet. You probably wouldn't want your mom or dads moment of death pictured for the unwashed masses to speculate over. Disrespectful to the dead.
Peace to his family in the difficult years ahead.
I agree, no need to show the pictures, thoughts and prayers.

Feel very sad for the driver and his family.

That crash was horrible btw. The car's a complete mess. I didn't think any impact could cause the car to be in such shape after a public collision. Interesting to see what BMW does after this. It surprises me now that the 3er won ''safest car of the year'' a couple months ago.
I live in Germany currently with my assignment in the military, and as for someone who drives the autobahn everyday I can say that it is a very safe road overall, even with vehicles driving at high rates of speed. Drivers are much more cautious about "keeping to the right" at all times unless you are passing, and the terrain is PERFECT to truly test these cars.. but the truck drivers are the worst, they switch lanes without looking ALL THE TIME, which is exactly what happened here. I wouldn't bash BMW's safety rating over this, ANY VEHICLE traveling at a high rate of speed crashing into a block of metal will not fair well. These are still some of the safest cars on the road.

Sad day for BMW comunity
Quite dangerous to pass these trucks at high speeds without some preventive flashes

Not taking the incident lightly, but I was thinking the same thing. They look like they haven't been touched.

To become a BMW test driver comes with a level of advanced driving. The waiting period is around two years and testing is highly advanced not only behind the wheel and on the various stages of external and internal road but also with he functionality of advanced and early protoypes.
My son finally joined the testing teams earlier this year after a 2 and a half year wait.

But I am right and saying so that these pictures should not be shown in their entirety.

I guess that huge truck went over the bmw with its rear tires..

Very sad either way.

I've not seen a wreck like that for a long time and it could've been so much worse for others, such as the fire-fighters, if those lithium batteries became unstable and/or caught fire.

I was in Germany month ago during my eurotrip. Was driving to Munich and when i was about 230 guy on small combo-van switched to my lane at around 120 speed. Had nothing to do but brake, because on the right lane was a car driving even slower than this noob. Luckily 335 has good enough brakes.

Sad about this accident.
