I think that's what's being sorted since the A4/3 Series are the new A6/5 Series of yore. I read somewhere on here via Scott26 that they're thinking of a 2er Grand Coupe RWD with the US market in mind. ///M2 GC would be a sweet deal.

Not sure why you hope that? The better Cadillac and other automakers get at making cars, the more they push BMW, Mercedes, to excel and get better. Competition is nothing but a good thing for consumers.

If Caddy refines the ATS, such that it surpasses the 3-series, then BMW should stop worrying about damn FWD cars and work harder to maintain their advantage with their core RWD cars.

This... we should be cheering on anyone pushing the segment forward. Its about the driving experience, and if the ATS is better handling then IMHO it deserves a look.

Plus brand images change. I remember when I was a kid (in the 80s) VW was seen as unreliable and mainly for hippies. Nobody knew what Audi was until their car was on the news for unintended acceleration into a garage. Ten years later, VW got a new ad campaign and started giving away trek bikes with their cars. Audi got design religion. They are both now seen as hip/progressive brands despite their history of problems. Things change.

Plus, people lamenting American car quality had/have a point... to a point. American cars are way better in terms of reliability than they were 20 years ago. Plus, I love my BMW, but its not like BMW is the bastion of build quality and reliability. Its probably been the least reliable car I have owned among several previous American, German, and Japanese models.

Sounds like you live under a rock. Might want to go drive one, or all of them before you make such comments. The ATS drives better than the BMW.. more agile.
And probably more reliable I hate to say...

Canadians might not buy Caddy, but boy do they buy GM!

Brand strategy. It is always better be known as the company that under-promises and over-delivers than the the converse. Several other companies have employed this strategy in order to build a certain perception of their cars. Dodge did it with the original SRT-4. It resulted in a lot of glowing remarks in the press. VW did it to some degree with the introduction of the 1.8T way back when. I'm sure there are a ton of other examples.

I see quite a bit of CTS in the GTA.

Actually saw a really nice CTS-V the other day only he was being a douche and instead of accepting my compliment, he just took off. But I didn't bite... I also knew better!

I heard Caddy is working on a forced induction 3.0 six cylinder, I hope it's going to be supercharged then it will kick ass.

The Cadillac ATS 2.0 is not bad considered it competing BMW 328i. I wouldn't have believed my eyes if I didn't see how well it performed. Having said that, the BMW is still superior in every term because it's engineered so well that it's hardly prone to any negative point, from engine to seats.

What's the curb weight difference between the two? At 6K-7K RPM, the N20 will continue to pull!

If there is a wagon for the baby Caddy, I might consider. I love the edgy styling of their recent cars like ATS and wagon.

The caddy looks sharp, but I'm willing to be its long term reliability won't be there. German engineering rules.

I think engine-wise nobody is gogin to beat the 3-series engines. The problem is that precision engineering is not making its way into the rest of the car, which reviewers and BMW are saying has become more of a marketable luxury car than an enthusiast's sport sedan. Cadillac seems to be tuning the car to be a sport sedan and making it luxurious inside, but it seems that the transmission in the 2.0 is causing it to fall short of the BMW.

From tests I have seen, both being 2.0T 6mt's, the ATS weights 50-60lbs more.
