Paris 2012: BMW M Performance Parts F30 3 Series

Nothing new was shown on this F30 with M Performance Parts at the 2012 Paris auto show, but it's still good eye candy. Here's a quick rundown of the parts you see in the photos below (we've also reposted photos we took at the 2012 AMI show in May). Also reference the full BMW M Performance Parts Catalog.

Parts List:
  • 20 inch M Performance Wheels: 20” forged alloy wheel set (style 405M) - forged and reduces weight by 1 kg (2.4 lbs.) per wheel when compared to a similar size wheel.
  • M Performance Brakes: Brembo big-brake kit with painted calipers (in yellow, orange, or red). 4-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle and 2-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear axle. Improved thermal resistance is provided by the larger, internally-vented, lightweight-construction sports brake discs measuring 370 x 30 mm (diameter x thickness) on the front axle and 345 x 24 mm on the rear axle. These cross-drilled and grooved brake discs also reduce water film build-up between the brake lining and the disc surface during wet driving conditions (at least 18" factory wheels are required).
  • M Performance High Gloss Black Kidney Grilles
  • M Performance Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps
  • M Performance Front Bumper Splitter, Rear Bumper Diffuser, and Sideskirts (M Sport Package required for all these parts)
  • M Performance Rear Spoiler - available in high quality black plastic or carbon fiber
  • M Performance Suspension
  • M Performance Exhaust System - for 335i
  • M Performance Alcantara Steering Wheel with Carbon Trim
  • M Performance Carbon Gearshift Lever with Alcantara Gaiter
  • M Performance Pedal Covers and Dead Pedal / Footrest
  • M Performance Carbon Fiber Hand Brake Lever with Alcantara Gaiter
  • M Performance Carbon Interior Trim with Alcantara
  • M Performance Floor Mat

I'm not usually a fan of racing stripes. But those do look nice... the black stripes on Mineral Gray would look nice. But I probably won't :P

In Sweden BMW wants $2800 for the exterior package. Not really worth it. Maybe just the front depending on price.

That new M-sport steering wheel looked dope!

What's the word on performance suspension availability? Is it springs or full suspension?

Anyone noticed the more beautiful M-performance steering wheel installed in the paris' F30 m-performance car yet?
Similar to the m-sport steering wheel of an M6 except for the alcantara and carbon.
Also more or less like the regular M-sport steering wheel for this car.

Can't find it in the official catalogue though.. strange.

Looks like an easy conversion to the 335 exhaust though. Unlike the E9x, it seems to be just a new exhaust and new diffusor.

In the E9x, it not only would have been a new exhaust and diffusor, but relocation of carbon canister and more than a couple of underbody pieces.

I have seen them in person, and they don't look any better than what you see here. I normally like all OEM wheels, especially the plus size versions. However, 20" on a 8" wide wheel is just an awkward proportion. Just too "wagon wheel" for my tastes, and the tires have a ridiculously thin sidewall.

Let's be honest, the only real performance upgrade here are the Brembo brake pack and suspension. The rest is basically for show. You could find lighter rims and actual aero equipment for real downforce elsewhere.

I guess if you want to be a poser on the streets, go ahead. Maybe I'm just too track-oriented myself. They better have a CCB pack for the F80 M3, though. >_>

this was my thinking too. I'd really like to see someone else do it first before I spend the $$$.

Side note - its nice to see the full alcantara M-Sport wheel is on the way.

I sure hope someone tries (and succeeds) at putting that MT shift knob in an e46!

Say bye bye to fender rubbing issue.
I think I can fit a duck into this massive wheel gap.

It would be nice if this stuff was available as a factory option, even as a package.
