+1, We had an expedition with the full on grille guard. No problem parallel parking.

I have the the plate on my E90 only to keep it simple.

I pretty much try not to write them, usually warn you first, but if someone can't take a hint there's always the hard way.
what if you have out of state plates? any issue?

Plates

It depends on if your state requires you to only have one plate or not. I believe of the states surrounding Illinois, Indiana is the only state that issues one plate. I can almost bet if a vehicle is seen from one of the states that requires two plates, the officer will probably at least check to see if the plates and vehicle match.

Just wanted to add in case it wasn't already covered... if you park in the city of Chicago, the meter maids are authorized to take pictures of your car front & back and issue you a ticket for not having a front plate.

If this happens to you, there is really no way out of it as they upload the pictures to the city's website and they are time-stamped when the ticket was issued. Ask me how I know...

Or look for something else. I will say that we don't have the most appealing plates in the US. After all, our governors make them for us.
If I put a European plate with my IL numbers in the front. Would that be a big issue?

As an Il. resident from around I-57 Exit 54 I can laugh at the last line

Also we have plenty of no-front-platers here, you'd have a great time! I only run mine since it was pre-drilled, the LEos here are less than concerned with them or window tint here.

Just don't do anything to make yourself stand out and you can drive by them around here all day long. Pretty relaxed here compared to there I guess.

Technically.....Yes.

Not to get to technical, but the vehicle code specifies you have to display a current plate. I had one guy in my area run the same numbers, but had the older style of plate. I kept trying to tell him he had to use the current design.

He didn't believe me.

One of our Secretary of State Police investigators made a believer out of him. Oh, and a 120 dollars poorer.

Yes, but you know it's true!! I don't get too wound up about it. I have a lot bigger fish to fry. But if I stop you for some other reason, we will have a little friendly discussion. I work for ISP. And yes, I have had a boss or two that has seen some of us off duty and only have one front plate and call us on the carpet for it later. Besides, they cost enough, might as well use them.

None of my cars have their front plates on them. I haven't been stopped once for it in about a decade of living in Illinois. I've even received a speeding ticket with no mention of the lack of my front plate. If they're going to stop you for that, I figure it was inevitable.

Then again, I do live in the suburbs, but I commute to the city every day.
