I got all excited when I thought it was for Melbourne Red. I wish I was from Melbourne but I'm not that cool...

Yes. My 328i M-Sport leaves Durban on 12th September and is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on 2nd October. Not much longer after that I hope.

hi guys, i am a 328i owner wannabe ..lol
test driving it this Thursday, will have it till Friday morning. currently driving a G6E turbo.. can't wait to see how 328i handles differently. I am not expecting the 328i to match my current ride power wise though. hopefully i can find that wow factor to justify the extra $20~30k. I really do, want a bmw so badly. lol

Will you be testing the Sports Line with the Sports + and Sports Suspensions. If you're the kind that likes swooshing around corners =)

not sure what specs i am getting tomorrow, the dealer told me that they keep demoís reasonably basic to ensure they move quicker than heavily optioned cars.

No worries if you dont have the sports + only difference would be turning off the traction control... but you definitely want this option here:

S2TBA - Sport automatic transmission

If you want to have a bit of fun every now and then. Hope u enjoy your ride.

Finally got the car for 1.5 days , test drove 328i modern line, I wanted the sport line though.
WOWOWOW boy, 328i handles SOOOOO great and delivered power when I needed it, it’s compact, agile, and swift and finish is excellent (my friend thinks the interior is blandly simple, but I like it. ) I then went back to my G6E turbo after driving the 328i for a day and I now have a difficult question to answer, do I keep the G6ET or get the 328i.

Not sure if anyone here has driven or even seen a G6ET. The sheer amount of power my G6ET delivered it's just astonishing, I guess I didn't fully appreciate it until I have driven the 328i (it's not that the 328i isn't powerful, however G6ET has 275kws after all). I guess I am not really comparing apples to apples; one is compact sport sedan, the other is large sport sedan. I have to say, IMHO, 328i is powerful, G6ET is wild!
Also, I am about to have a baby, so space is another thing to consider. G6ET ticks the boxes for sheer power and interior space. BMW is a winner in departments such as handling, interior finish, and technology. Help pls, I need some advice to justify the price different b/w my G6ET and the 328i.
P.S.
1) Wifey likes the modern line, which I still can't figure out why..
2) The ASS system sometimes didn't work; the engine wouldn't switch off at the complete stop, anyone knows why?
3) The hazard light came up when the car had a sudden stop after travelling 110KM/h, wonder why.

what is the dilemma you are facing? this is going to show my ignorance but I always thought the market for 3 series is different to local muscle cars... they are very very different cars after all...
they are different in terms of size, handling, power, build quality, safety features, efficiency and price...

Right.. Looks like the main points that really stand out to me are:
1)Power
2)Baby
3)Space

Pardon me if i'm being to blunt. I think Power and Baby and Space dont mix. If money is not a factor I would suggest a F10 535 if you want everything.

We've got a F10 for cruising and F30 for me to play. Truth be told I really want an M5 but it's way too expensive here.

Back on topic since you've got a kid on the way, 5 star safety rating would be your priority as well I'm guessing. I'm not sure what ANCAP rating Fords packing but would be good to compare. A 3 series would fit the baby seat just fine.

Would you want the bmw for comfort or sport? If it's comfort and a family vehicle your looking for you could probably get the f30 or X3's
To be honest the times I found for the G6ET tested 0-100km/h time of 5.3 seconds . Think some of the guys tested 328s with kickdown around 5.7sec and 335's bout 5.3 secs too.

For me the milisec difference could not justify the extra 20 k for a 335. To each his own.

Is keeping both of them a possibility? Or try the 335's if your keen on more power and happy with the size. You could get 520d as well for the cost of a souped up 328

1) can't help you there.
2) it won't always engage for a number of reasons. Manual has the details.
3) its a safety feature. The idea is when you throw out the anchors like you did you want to warn the cars coming up behind you at speed as much as possible.

I think the GE6T is a combination of power and space, not necessiarily finish and handling though. I guess the problem I have is that i can't have everything from a BMW with the budget I have ( b/w $70 and 75$K ) and the G6ET offers the space I need plus the power (though I rarely use that much). Guess it's a balancing act; juggling b/w what drives me and what I need to drive for the family, I am not an aggressive driver, however do go wild occasionally.

G6ET is 5 star as well.

I want sport and the space to fit the baby seat and 2 adults at the back if possible. tested it tonight, not much room for me after fitting the car seat and I am a small guy.

leasing the G6ET atm,, can't afford two.

haven't got time to read the manual yet, been driving non stop. i actually didn't mind the ASS just wondering why it sometimes didn't kick in.
