IIRC the transmission cooler is integrated with the radiator and Alpina's solution is to upgrade the part instead of adding an additional cooler.

From a before and after HPDE perspective, I needed Intake cooling (lager IC) over the transmission.

I suspect if it is indeed cooler through the radiator system, a race radiator would work best.

It sounds like you can just upgrade the radiator.

Just FYI, there are a few part differences between an M Sport and non M Sport trim vehicle. My understanding is that the M Sport package has a "better" cooling system that is more track oriented.

Some differences just by looking at the RealOEM site:

Heat exchanger - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=17_0638

Auxiliary radiator - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=17_0649

There's probably a few more.

I honestly wouldn't be able to help you beyond this point.

I would imagine you would have to consult someone like a BMW Service Technician to figure out all the dependencies that are required for this install.

Short of a driveway mechanic being able to take apart a non M Sport and M Sport to compare side by side if all these parts are collectively interchangable, idk... I don't imagine this is a mod that is done in one afternoon.

If you have an M Sport already, why do you need additional cooling? Have you pushed your car on the track to a point beyond the limits of the stock cooling system?

That heat exchanger is also meant to warm up the transmission fluid quicker when its cold out. Cold transmission fluid is significantly thicker and is less efficient. The engine coolant warms up far quicker then transmission fluid. If you live somewhere warm year aound and you know what your doing deleting the heat exchanger and putting in a small trans cooler with a external thermostat wouldn't be the worst idea. Removing the trans from track level hot coolant is a good idea for longevity.

You should really look into an exhaust cooler first. The exhaust gets much hotter than the transmission.
