F30 328 advertised price in Singapore $167k

Wow, not sure how much wiggle room is in that price, but I was reading the paper there over the weekend, and was amazed at the cost.

Half of the cost is for the permit. Even a Honda civic can cost almost a 100k. It's tiny and relatively rich country, so its the governments only way of keeping cars off the road and preventing massive gridlock.

According to the June 1, 2012 Wall St Journal, Singapore has the highest percentage of millionaires per capita, with one out of every six households having at least 1 million US dollars in disposable wealth. But it also has one of the highest income inequality levels among developed nations - go figure.

Well, malaysia is just second at south east asia, one 328i in malaysia cost u $92k. But malaysia is the largest premium car market in South East Asia. i.e.: Merc, Audi, and BMW. But Singapore is the largest market for supercar in the region. How irony.

Yes bro..but our cars' lifespan is only 10 years only. After 10yrs, I have to maybe pay another $100k for another 10 years if decided to extend.

Different country. Different government. Different culture. Different economics. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

Gosh darn, am I the only one who took social studies in grade school? And yet people continue to be "amazed" that other countries aren't like theirs.

It's still $140,000 US But Singapore has something like 31% import duty, an "additional registration fee" of 100% and massive taxes on cars. It's only a small principality and so car ownership is not encouraged. You also need a COE (Certificate Of Entitlement) to drive it. It's a bit like a license plate in the USA except there are a limited and finite number of COE available in the country and you bid on the right to drive a car You need a COE for every car you own and they go for $50k or more.

It's another world out there

Yo bro, heard that car robbery is very common across the border. Any tips to avoid such issues especially when u r driving a expensive bimmer?

Btw, Malaysia is fun and I like going to your cameron and Genting highland.

No, I converted it to US. For the other post a 160k 328 is not a mild change, that is a 400% mark-up. Social studies or not, that is a lot to pay for a 328. FWIW there were a lot of Audis on the road, and the new 1 hatchback, fun place to look at cars.
