Question BMW customer research

Do any of you think that BMW has someone in their company to look at these forums to get tips, recommendation, ideas,or discover current problems from BMW enthusiast and owners. Because I was thinking if they took our ideas of a model and applied it to that model we would end up with a much more liked car. Of course the would have to go with a majority choice cause they wouldn't be able to add all of our ideas.

Doubt it, since these forums represent only a small percentage of BMW owners. As per the featured post, BMW sold over 90k compact sedans this year alone. How many are on this forum?

Our views tend to represent a small and extremely biased minority, and the general concerns/ideas of the BMW consumer base at large will definitely disagree with us on many points.

BMW monitors these sites

I was contacted by a customer service specialist whose job it was to monitor the forms, they investigated my situation and resolved my issue quite nicely. I doubt they are able to engage on all the issues, and I really could not tell why they worked my situation.

No doubt BMW is monitoring the forums. We're basically an in-house focus group. I'm sure many members of this forum have been selected to participate because we're knowledgable about the product. As a BMW owner of a E92, E85 and E89 I was invited to participate in focus groups for Porsche, Chrysler and VW.

In the past I know that BMW monitored bimmerfest. If a troubled post came up frequently they would answer it and tell you they would be in contact with you. I also was invited to focus groups.

As someone who worked for an agency that did work for BMW NA nine or so years ago (Including BMW films) and still does similar work for clients now, I can tell you we monitor these and similar forums to get the pulse of the community and to mine for ideas and insights. Nothing sinister, but this is a community of influencers. Now, as a owner, I'm here for my own education and enjoyment.

Good for BMW if that's the case. It's certainly the sensible approach to take.

However, I remember a few years ago being a member of a couple of UK based VAG forums and it was known that Volkswagen Audi Group stalked the boards looking for members who'd modded their vehicles and thus invalidating their warranties.

I hope they do.
They'll read about:
Rusty seat bases, faulty leather workmanship, mis-matched paint on rear bumpers, new nav sending owners all over the shop, orange peel paint, slow to react parking sensors, auto wipers not very effective, rattles from dash, steering vibration, squeaky brakes, rear view mirror loose housing ..........

But when customers report many of these issues, BMW and the garages have never heard of the fault before.

I know from guys inside of BMW, that they don't always like what is discussed on forums, but often are aware of what is on topic. There are also comments going back into BMW from those in the motoring press who have 'listening ears' inside BMW.

I think it's pretty cool they actually come on these threads to see what's being discussed. My only wish is they take some of our complaints like a soft suspension and disconnected steering and improved upon them.

Please add my faulty gas lid too...not closing on a cold day is dick.

BMW if you're reading this, please make these cars feel like we spent $50k on them!!

My 1998 Ford Contour SVT had less issues :-(

been tempted to write about my issues with my brand new car and namely a certain dealership who is refusing to deal with the error on their part, but i've wrote and deleted my post half a dozen times now...

i think i keep up hope they will resolve the issue but it's been about two weeks now... next step is to fire off a letter to BMW NA, first time i've had to do that after countless bmw's...

with that said, i think it is not only wise but educational for them to monitor forums...

If the dealership is giving you hassle, you NEED to call BMWNA and get them involved...thankfully my dealership and SA have been VERY kind and receptive, which might have something to do with the fact I purchased the car there (who knows?), but that's unacceptable that 2 weeks have gone by.

Excellent. Can we get larger mirrors and better lights in the visors?

Thanks, BMW!

problem is, this is NOT the dealership i normally deal with... back home, they are absolutely amazing and treat me very well... this dealership, not so much, and just try to pass the buck... i'll take what you say into consideration...
