Active Sound Module

I have a 435i convertible with both mppk and mpe . With the top down in "sport" mode, I get a muddy sound from what sounds like the rear speakers on downshifts. I asked around the dealership about whether this car has an active sound module and would they help me disconnect it. All I get is blank looks...they don't know what I am talking about....right!!!!....the amount of money BMW put into developing and manufacturing the system and no one knows anything about it....Can anyone help me with where the module is located and can I get by by just disconnecting it?? Thanks

Fake or not, I love the sound. I wouldn't think of disconnecting it.

For me with the top down, it sounds like the radio is distorting....I have had several people comment on it.....how bad the sound system is considering it is the up option. Plus it doesn't do it in Comfort mode, so what good is it??

It's at the back under the boot cover

Or you can code it out.

Hmm. I thought ASDs were in the 4-cylinder models only. Guess I learn something new everyday! That being said, it looks like BMW's putting ASD on every new model? I remember when it was a ruckus when first discovered and everyone was going "OMG WE NEED TO REMOVE IT LIKE A CANCER", and no one seems to be up in arms about it anymore...

Never been a fan of the fake sound on any car, if my car had one i would disconnect it as well.
If i want better sound i would just get an exhaust.

In the UK it's definitely on the 335d and 435i but not the 335i

Www.realeom.com is your friend.

It's a definite love or hate thing - on diesels I've no problem with it. When I pressing on with manual flappy paddles it tells me when to change.

On petrols im not so sure. Euro regs are starting to force manufacturers into petrol forced induction for more econmical engines which are inherently smooth and quiet. My last car was so quiet all I could hear was the wind and tyre roar at speed a europipe exhaust 100 cell system soon sorted that
