Electronic service book

For those that have been in F30, have you had a look or taken a picture of the Electronic Service book ?

For those that dont know about it, the F30 records services electronically and does not come with a service booklet.

Not sure what happens when you take it to a independent service agent
F20 1 Series with Pro Nav will also get this feature
You can see a bit on it on page 78 of the online USA Owners Manual

Very cool, 'Fleet.

But here in the US, I doubt very much that even BMW dealers will update the work they do on the cars -- it's just not done. I've noticed in Europe that dealers always ask for the maintenance book to stamp it. Once, in Singapore, I had a Honda dealer hold the car until the maintenance book could be located to stamp it.

But, in all the years I've owned cars in the US, I've never had a dealer offer to note maintenance in the logbook. I wish they would.

I did have a dealer charge my US$90 extra to read the data in my E90 key, though. If they can find a way to charge for entering the info into the F30, then maybe we'll see a change.

Interesting.
Here you can hardly sell a car without producing its full service history

While under BMW's maintenance plan all work here is recorded on BMW's system and can be requested by 2nd hand buyers.
After the 5 to 7 year plans are up, you have to get your book stamped and keep the receipts.

E90Fleet,

Apparently this feature is activated only after one of the scheduled maintenance items has come due. I think it just keeps track of the time and mileage when the service interval was reset.

I had my dealer change oil after break-in period and specifically asked not to reset the reminder. The option has not shown up yet in the iDrive. I'll let you know in 7K miles when my first complimentary oil change is due.

Meanwhile, I record my "old school" maintenance activities in the "notes" space of the warranty booklet.

Dmitry

Hey E90Fleet,
You haven't posted here for a long time. Al least I haven't seen one of your posts for a long time. Has anyone seen his posts recently?

Is everything ok?
