I've been looking at the product page and Android mirroring is not supported.

There are apps for Android that support AirPlay (such as this one), does anyone know if they work? Or has anyone tried it?

I'm actually doing some testing with that now. There are a couple ways it can be done ?.

I'll post an update once I have it up..

In the meantime, here is the other feature video for the Apple TV.. It's awesome:

Ha, no TV for me. I mainly use it for the flawless AirPlay iPhone mirroring to use apps like Waze for navigation. It's also fun if you ever go to a car show to throw the Apple Arab on the screen. I've heard of people using it for when their wife goes shopping and they stay in the car.

If still interested I have installed this into my vehicle www.adaptiv-multimedia.com, it not only offers add on HDMI to Apple devices but full navigation upgrade, digital radio and DVBT onto the original screen.

I got this as I didn't have factory Nav and found out about all the benefits thereafter.

Does the MMI create its own wifi network?
How can the phone still use its cellular data for Internet while connecting to the MMI's wifi to airplay through Apple TV?

HDMI

The add-on HDMI module allows a high resolution input of both Apple and Android mobile devices. The input allows display of video and apps on the OEM screen. Not available for BMW interfaces.
Part number: ADV-HDMI.

It's the other way around.
You have to activate Personal HotSpot on your iPhone and SmartView HD (Apple TV) will connect automatically to your iPhone when you get into the car.
You can mirror your phone in HD to the screen in the car through AirPlay and use data connection on your iPhone at the same time. Or just use Apple TV.

The same works for Android devices but you need an app called Mirroring360 Sender. This app uses AirPlay.

Is it possible to buy just the Multimedia interface without the Apple TV so I can connect something else (e.g., Chromestick) for Android? Or are you planning to sell SmartView HD with an alternative device for Android phones?

Have anyone tried mirroring from Android phone using Mirroring360 app? I would like to get MMI and SmartView HD but I have an Android phone. If mirroring is working reliably with that third party app, then I will buy the MMI.

I would use mirroring mainly for navigation so lag or connection hitches would be very unfortunate because I could miss a turn because of that. My car doesn't have navigation and this could be a cool solution for that.
