2015 model HBA coding success?

I'm just curious whether anyone with a 2015 model vehicle has succeeded in enabling anti-dazzle and variable light distribution.

I do not have the necessary options to enable anti-dazzle but I was able to successfully enable VLD (at least I think I was) on my 2015 428i GC. Its hard to verify if its working but I didnt get any errors.

it's pretty easy to check just start the car inside a garage and look at the left headlight move to the outside at startup

I started this thread because, thus far, I only know of failed attempts to enable these features on 2015 MY vehicles, including my own, using the same coding sequences that have succeeded on equivalent 2014 MY vehicles. It's perplexing.

I'm new to coding, which is why I posted another (as yet unanswered) question to learn, essentially, how the car knows which implementation of HBA to use. Does it "see" the SALAPA-Element codes themselves, or do those codes simply determine what functions are available in the modules, and it is the module functions alone the vehicle references? If the latter, why is there no, e.g., ANTIDAZZLE_ENA function? So I'm both ignorant and perplexed, which is a sad state of affairs for any mortal soul.

Im about to remove the VLD and VO Code FEM_BODY afterwards. These were the instructions to remove VLD enabling anti dazzle on low beams. My concern is I haven't found anything yet stating how to enable HBA. That said it may be a snake waiting to bite me and I just don't see it. If anyone has a link please post it here. Another concern is I need to buy the part for my car at $439.00 to do the high beams. This is a non refundable part so I want to see if anyone has any further detail. I'll gladly do this project and report back on all findings but I need some assistance upfront to get going. Does anyone have any experience with this on the 15's? Also, are there any known ways to code HBA to default on? This would be saving everyone a ton of money on stalk replacement.

Here is the a cut and paste from a conversation I have going on this already.

PSdZData Lite is all that is needed.

Since you have Adaptive Xenon lights and not LED, you would just remove S8S4A from FA and then use modified FA to VO Code FEM_BODY.

I have the light version for esys, do I need the full dataset for this procedure?

Do I just remove the S8S4A and then vo code the modules? Which modules?

Thanks again

As far as I know, there is no way in an F30 to default HBA into the "On" position, so with out switch you have nothing still.

Since car has S8S4A Decoding variable light distribution, you can remove it and Encode lighting modules and get Variable Light Distribution for the low-beams.

I want to enable HBA and anything else I can with my headlights i.e. unit dazzle etc. Currently I have the LDW, SLI. Would you possibly be able to look at this and let me know what I can enable with what I have?

As always, thank you for your time and help.

I did this last weekend. Pretty simple, remove option 84S, VO code FEM-Body. Keep in mind that any coding changes you previously did in FEM-Body will be wiped out so you will need to recode those.

So, you successfully enabled VLD, but don't have HBA and so couldn't enable anti-dazzle, correct? And this is for a 2015 MY?

Yes, I do not have HBA so no anti-dazzle. My car is MY 2015.

I just did the removal of 84S and did the VO Code and was successful as well. I took this a step fortward to see what would happen and added 5AC HBA to the FA and VO Coded that to FEM-BODY. The result was I now have a camera system malfunction regarding the High Beam Assistant. I removed 5AC and redid the VO coding and I still have the error???? Any ideas here?

you may need to restart your car, clear out the error, and drive around.

Either do what tboooe said or go to the External Applications tab in E-Sys, click Transmitter, scroll to bottom of the list and double click "Clear All DTC's"

That will clear all errors.

I did this and the error remains. I'll try driving it next. Any other thoughts?

Im wondering if some other ECU was effected in any way once I enabled 5AC even though I'm sure I only VO coded FEM_BODY. As best I can tell this is when the error popped up and I have not been able to shake it since.

That will always clear them, double check that the you really did remove the 5AP and re-do the VO coding. Something doesn't sound right. You can even just save the FA, check it in FA editor, and load the file back up in the coding module. No need to write it to your car.

Here is a screenshot of the fresh read. Its not there anymore. unless I'm missing a step for the VO coding but I doubt it all my other coded options are gone. Even after I restored an old CAF file and did the VO again the features were removed after the VO the second time.

As you recommended I redid the entire process from step one and need with the same results. I'm starting to scratch my head here.

Maybe put it back to completely stock VO and then try (add back 8S4)? I'm not too sure to be honest. I'll see if I can find anything.

When you do your SVT read does KAFAS/FLA come up as a module?

Yes. LDW and SLI are also working. How do I VO the whole car?

Hmm. That shouldn't be showing up (unless of course you do actually have a KAFAS/FLA camera, do you know if you do?) easiest way to tell is if you have Drivers Assistance Plus.

You can VO code the whole car by right clicking the "ECU" folder at the top of the SVT tree and hitting code. Do not leave your engine running as this will VO code the DME also (which I think is okay to do) otherwise you need to do them one module at a time.

No the SALAPA doesn't matter.... what matter is the settings on each ECU cafd file....

What happens is that if you modify you SALAPA elements and VO code, it will automatically modify all the individual coding for that option

unless you write the updated FA into the car, next time you read the FA it will not show the options you added/removed
also VO coding wipes all FDL coding, thats why you first vo code and then fdl code

So a complete VO to all ECU's after triple checking all option codes, clear all DTC from external tab on eSys, ran Tool 32 from EDIABAS to Clear DTC's. Error remains. The car is 100% back to stock as best I can tell by all the steps Ive taken. the read from the car shows all the VO codes are right as well.
