ugh, welp, I found out that my car was built in South Africa and it's on a boat for 51 days (it just left there on 2/21), there goes any chance of getting it any time soon. this freaking sucks....another 2 months at least before I get it....

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. My lease is up at end of march so that would have been miserable for me.

yeah, this would mean that from ordering to potentially getting the car would have taken nearly 5 months. there is something VERY wrong with that. luckily my wife works from home so one car works for us (as I sold my 135i about a month ago) not sure how this could work in a family that needs two cars daily though....

Christ, can they think of anywhere more inconvenient to build BMW's than South Africa? What stops does it make?

so after reading some other posts on here, it looks like it gets dropped off at a port in Germany, then gets transferred to another boat (one guy on these boards said his car sat at the German port again for another 2 weeks) and then it's the standard shipping time from there to the US...what a disaster

I heard back from MOL this AM...

"Your car has been shipped on the Dignity Ace from Durban and will be transhipped onto the Swan Ace V.45a in Bremerhaven on the 22nd of March 2013. Currently the ETA into Port Hueneme is 16th April 2013."

So that's good I suppose. How close are you to delivery?
