Vishnu/Procede & Cobb

Anyone know if these two companies are working on a tune for the F30 335i?

Anything yet. Seems the other tunes on the market, except for Hartge doesn't take proper care of your engine. (my opinion anyway after month of searching for the right parts in order to recach 400 whp).

unsure where the margins are for them...if you can get the PPK done for $1200-1500, they REALLY have to provide some solid, reliable gains over that to entice customers.

I suspect that's what's delayed Dinan too...it's October and they were supposed to release a tune by this past summer...

I don't agree with your assessment.

First Cobb and Vishnu both have offered tunes for other cars (N54, Subaru, etc) that have ALWAYS been less than $1200. For Cobb it's been $895 and not sure on Vishnu. They could be very competitive here even at MPPK numbers.

Typically MPPK numbers are very conservative compared to after market tunes. I would expect Cobb and Vishnu to put up (even moderately) better numbers.

I suspect that the reason why we haven't seen anything is the complexity of the DME's in our vehicles. Look at the MPPK which is made by BMW there is already 3 different versions and customers reporting issues. I have a July 2014 build F30 and MPPK still isn't available for me to order. If BMW is having troubles then full flash companies line Dinan and Cobb are going to have a heck of a time reverse engineering the DME to support their flashes.

I think they will come. Cobb took about 4 years after the N54 was released to get a flash tune. Now this was their introduction into the BMW market so I don't expect it to take that long, but there will be challenges for such a new car.

Vishnu was around $1100 initially, and is currently $7-900 deepening on N54/55.

That's NOT including installation for both-and granted its cheap (idiot proof) to hook up a Cobb, it's still a pig back, and still not warranted.

Cobb and Vishnu would have to price-compete with Burger, and that's why I think they're late to the game and may delay it farther.

$1200-1500 for a warranty GUARANTEED tune is tough to compete with given the real world gains-and since I've tracked Pre and post the PPK, the gains around Lime Rock are VERY noticeable.

Cobb isn't a pig back, it's a flash. I was at Cobb last week - guy at Cobb said the new ECU's are RSA encrypted and BMW keeps rolling the encryption codes. It takes a long time for their dev's to crack each one and likely won't be profitable.

Echo everybody else, get the BMS stage 2 - it's pretty impressive and cost effective

You can always get the BMS tune and then IF other companies release their tune and you decide to switch, sell your bms piggy.

Just got word from HorsePowerFreaks that I could get the ProCede engine Control System 2011-2014 for my 335 F30 (2012).

Has anyone else mounted the ProCede on an F30?

Is there a reason why you do not want to get BMS?

The Procede supervision of the engine is done by more sensors, (as well as the german tuner, Hartge):
boost sensor 1&2, t/c Valve, rail pressure sensor, camshaft sensor, air flow meter & water temp. sensor.

BMS uses only 4 sensors for their supervision.

Many years of experience through working with diesel engine management systems and fault finding on same helped choose.

Both BMS and Procede has many good features.
