Plus-sizing to 19" rims on F34 328ix

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just bought first AWD fastback (2014 328ix GT) and thinking about using my staggered 19" rims. 8.5"(ET34) in the front and 10"(ET40) in the rear, with 255/40 and 285/35 tires respectively. Rolling diameters should be 26.9" and 27.0" respectively. Speedometer should read +0.3%.

Can anyone comment on the potential problems/challenges, or negative impacts on the precision tuned components? Fitment looks good (no clearance issues), but getting close to the brakes/struts.

19s will have a harsher ride and be more prone to damage. With summers that's probably not an issue, but get them off for winter, and especially pothole season.

I have stock 19's for winter and then got new 19's for summer and regretting not getting 20" or 21" you just have to keep the 27" diameter the same and tolerance under 3% for the xdrive if you have that. if not, then doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the advice and great pic! That's the look I'm going for as well. Regretting the 19's??? I'm also considering the 20's...but concerned about potential warranty implications?

No warranty issues with the 20's as long as you keep the diameter the same. Mine was actually a dealer demo that had 20's on it but they wanted an extra $5k for the rims... ya right. swapped them out for a brand new 19" M Double Spoke Style 598M wheels which I use for my winters now.

The only reason I stayed 19" was I bought the excessive use package for $1000 on my lease. Among other wear and tear issues, I can bring back the tires bald, no brainer to do that if you are going to use the tires as they are $600ea in canada and the lease says you have to bring back the exact size and model when you return the lease. So I couldn't sell them and would have to store those along with the off-season wheel set so I just took the easy way out and stayed 19. If I could of sold them and be done with it, would of gone 21" for sure.

All the other 3 series models have a 26" diameter tire and those guys have 20's on all the time. 21" with a 27" diameter would have the same profile as a 20" on a sedan. The only problem with 21" is that there is very limited sizing available in the specs you need and you have to match up the staggered front and backs. There aren't a lot of tires/sizes to choose from.
