Removing wheel centre cap / badge

I would like to check my 403Ms for early signs of corrosion (hoping to find some!). How can I remove the centre caps without taking the wheels off?

The short answer is you can't.
If you lever from the outside with a small blade you might do it but will probably do some damage.
The other idea is to attach a rubber sucker and pull!
You really need to remove the wheels and tap them out from the inside.

I did wonder if there was a specific tool, but good to know that works. Cheers

I had 3 wheels replaced under warranty for that exact issue, might check the odd wheel as well!

Replaced mine by pulling off with a small length of gaffer tape - they come out easily.

The strongest I have is Duck tape, which doesn't seem to work. I have just ordered a small suction puller though.

Once you have got the centrecap off where do you look exactly for corrosion? what is the warranty time on wheels?

You don't need to remove the centre cap. Once you start to see the lacquer swell and go cloudy around the edge of the centre cap - it's time to talk to the dealer. BMW will replace them once it's visible. If you do have the wheels off you could put a bit of copper grease in the hub centre and on the area where the wheel touches the hub - stops them sticking together but still allows the heat from the brakes to dissipate through the hub and wheel.
I think the wheels have a 3 year warranty. I had 3 alloys replaced in year 2 and the 4th in year 3 at about 30 months.

Thanks for the info, mine was 3 years old in Feb when I bought it as a Used BMW Car....I'll still be checking in case.
