Magnaflow vs Borla ATAK

Anybody have either of the exhausts with a catless dp. Would like to hear some sound clips. Always been a magnaflow guy especially on my VWs. But the borla ATAK is just a bit cheaper than the magnaflow. I like the magnaflow since it is pretty much a 3inch pipe exhaust all the way to 4 inch tips opposed to the borla that goes 3 inch to 2.5 to 3.5 tips.

Even though I have the ATAK, it sounds to me like you'd feel better paying the extra and going with the Magnaflow on your car. I've heard it without DPs and it still has a good tone to it. I suspect with them even better.

Yeah magnaflow is what I would like but at $200 less the borla ATAK is nice. Maybe someone will have a sale on the magnaflow on Black Friday haha. Where have you heard the magnaflow? Any videos on YouTube besides the magnaflow made one?

That does sound good but I think that's a 328d or 328i doesn't sound like an N55 to me. I saw that video too.

You can't go wrong with either Borla or magnaflow, just all about personal preference.

I personally like Borla ATAK due to the 30LBS weight reduction and sound, it emits such a erotic exhaust note every time I accelerate. Also it's quite easy to install yourself (much easier if you had a second set of hands.)

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, make sure to replace that lip clamp between the downpipe and cat as it was completely rusted on mine. They say to reuse it, but it's better to replace for ease of mind.

Yeah I agree. That's the thing Borla has more pros over the magnaflow i think. I did see that it's lighter, it uses a better stainless steel pipe, and it's cheaper. Magnaflow just has larger tips and it's all 3 inch. I wonder what the weight savings is with the magnaflow.

I have bought new clamps already for the dp to mid pipe since I have a catless dp on my car now. I reused my stock one but have replacements at home.

I wish the borla had 4 inch tips and I'd be sold but like you said that's personal preference haha

Borla should have provided all new clamps except for that one clamp from downpipe to cat that you're supposed to reuse, but since you have catless dp, I guess new clamps are a must haha.

But yeah, the stainless steel they use is pretty good grade and it's cheap, I didn't want to spend 2300-2500$ on the dinan muffler, so this saved me money to get the intake.

Awesome that doesn't seem so bad. Only 10lbs more than Borla. I wonder what the stock exhaust weighs.

Usually the weight translates to being quiet so it depends on what you're looking for.

So you're saying the magnaflow is quieter than the Borla? I wouldn't mind that since I already have a catless dp. Gonna wait to see if there are any better deals on the magnaflow during black friday..
