Production BMW 4 Series Coupes Spotted at Airport On Way to 2013 Shanghai Auto Show?

Will we be seeing the F32 4 Series coupe make its public debut at the 2013 Shanghai auto show in just over a week?

These photos are purported to be production stage 4 Series coupes at the airport waiting to be loaded for a plane to Shanghai. They may look like they are wearing the usual pre-production prototype camouflage, but if insider Scott26 is right, the camouflage is just protective vinyl for the trip.

Although the production 4 Series coupe has recently been spotted completely revealed [pics below], we have not yet seen the M Sport version (which is represented by the Estoril Blue 4 Series seen below).

Production of the 4 Series coupe begins this July and the 4 Series convertible begins production in November. Dealer ordering guides (for their demo models) have revealed the available lines, options, and packages that will be made available [see dealer order guides].

The US will get the 428i and 435i coupes, in RWD and xDrive versions. In its first model year (2014), the 435i coupe will be powered by the same N55 engine as the current F30 335i sedan (with the same power output) and the 428i is likewise powered by the same N20 engine as the current F30 328i sedan.

The 2013 Shanghai auto show begins on April 20th. Keep your fingers crossed

IMO, the coupe ALWAYS looks better than the sedan and this one appears to be no exception.

Curious to how they will sell the 4 series to the general Chinese public, who hate the number "4"... sounds like "death." They even skip levels 4 and 14 in some buildings (like how we skip 13 in some buildings here).

Is that Estoril Blue wearing the Msport Package? Curious to see how that improves the overall look.

Audi sells plenty of A4s in China. It is one of the best selling luxury cars there, in fact. How do they do it? It may give insight to BMW's approach.

Sure there's the "A" in front of the "4", but we don't honestly think a car called "A-Death" would sell any better here than a car called "Death", right? Unless maybe "A" in China happens to sound like "Honorable" or something.

I think the reason why Audi sold very good in China is because Audi got into the China market way before Merc and BMW.

Not sure how that is relevant - BMWs sell extremely well in China just like Audis do. The question is about the model name having a "4" in it, not whether the brand itself is successful.

That Estoril M Sport sample really does look great. An MCB M4 is going to be a breathtaking car.

Odd...?

Does anyone find it odd that the 4 series isn't being shown with the M sport brakes currently offered in the EU and Canada? Especially on the M Sport trim level and it being on the latest order guide published. Who knows maybe they will have another one with it but I would've love to seen those. Regardless of the Chinese market, this is a world premiere vehicle so IMHO this was small blunder...

Thats a hot 6 series! (bad joke about how large it looks).

The car will do very very well, it looks outstanding. I love the quater panel lines. Well done BMW. In the the goofy new nomanclature won't seem goodfy. I still wish the new 3er and 4er were about 10% shorter and narrower. Bring on the 2 series!

Also the greenhouse is larger than I thought, in camo the car looked like it had very short side windows and raked windshield and rear window, kind of like a chevy camaro. I'm glad with the camo off it looks the way it does. Being able to see out of a car is a good thing

Ive been looking forward to this car for a long time... But now in production form it looks like an audi a5 with an f30 front end (not a good thing). Even the e92 had a different front end than the e90. It seems the focus was more to catch the a5/s5 crowd when they're lease is up rather than creating an original vehicle. I was honestly expecting better, esp after seeing the concept.

Maybe i'm wrong and i shouldn't make judgements until i see it in the flesh...
