F30 delimiter?

So I've searched a bit and haven't found one yet. Can't take the folks leaving me after 130....anyone know of a delimiter add-on? Burger hasn't produced one for us just yet.

I've seen 155 in mine. I've got the Sport model and was still in 6th (8 speed).

So apparently there isn't a product out yet for this. I am trying to understand why anyone would do thousands of dollars of mods if you top out at 130 or 155. Is everyone just looking for the best 0-100 time?

In North America with our low speed limits and heavy police presence on the highways - driveability and 50 - 75 mph times are far more important than the top end. In Canada - you get caught driving at 155 MPH - you will lose your license and have your car impounded. So we mod our cars and enjoy the theoretical top end and dream of driving on the roads in Europe with a trip to the Ring.

PPK eliminates the speed limiter for sure, I was at 122 and edged to 130 mph without issue. I didn't push it more.

Not so sure about that. Your limiter is 130 mph. You'll need to "push it more" to show the limiter is gone. Which I am pretty sure it ain't.

It's a tire thing at BMW. They do not sell cars that can go faster than the tire rating.

We have a certain road here in this part of Texas that has a 41-mile long stretch with an 85-mph speed limit. It's a beautiful divided highway with a few long, sweeping curves and very long straightaways. I can't quote exactly how fast one might be able to drive on it (should one be so inclined), but one may have easily bested that "limiter" figure by a good 10 MPH. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

If it weren't fer them varmint wild hogs runnin' across the road down at the south end, we could really open it up!

How 'bout that perfect-Spring-day blue sky, huh?

With the increased speed limiter option it'll only let you hit 155... there's a nice stretch of highway here in Dallas that is EMPTY after 3am. Lets just say "a friend" hit 197 in a different car... no worries, "he" blocked all the on ramps first

If you had gotten perf. summer tires, you would have gotten the limiter set at 155.

I think the whole concept of limiters is about tires more than the car. Tires are rated to a certain speed. The best all seasons or winters I've found only rate to 135 mph or so. Then comes the factor of the car and whether or not it (chassis and brakes) can handle maneuvering and braking at that speed (or even getting there and sustaining it for that matter). Plus I'm sure there's some related legal matters that lead to the limiters being there in the first place...

It's a SEDAN. And not an M5. maybe with some serious engine upgrades you could make 160+ viable on the autobahn, but honestly, mine w/ summers starts to feel unstable at 155+ and like it's pushing too hard. Plus the fuel economy really starts to suffer at 100+.

If you do find a tune that gets rid of the limiter, let me know, but make sure you have your other variables under control.

You wouldn't be referring to the old Luna Road "dragstrip", would you? More than likely it's one of the new Toll Roads, like Toll 130 that I was referring to previously. But unlike Dallas, you really have to watch out for wildlife on that stretch from near the F1 track in Austin down towards I-10. Unfortunately there's no way to block their entrances.

I have to agree. Every time I hypothetically bust the century mark, I am thinking about a tire going bad, especially these runflats. That, and without that nice little aero lip for the trunk (which I'm sure I'll add soon enough), there's probably a decent amount of lift in the back. Ground clearance is also relatively high, so with that much air getting under the car, it makes 155 a realistic limit without lowering the suspension and adding a little more aerodynamics.

KK, I do appreciate what you are saying. I came from an M6 and am just trying to get this where it will be safe and still satisfy my desires. I need some springs, bracing and tires to get the stability at a minimum. I am not trying to make it an M3, but have to be happy with it. A great all around car; I just need to manage the mods and my expectations.

I believe the Michelin A/S Plus tires are rated higher than 130, and they are all seasons
