Q50S tested (400hp)

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/infin...t-test-review/

Numbers are as I expected, just under a 335i with the 35hp pack. The additional horses in the Q50 show up in the trap speed and the mpg.

Driving experience well I will let the experts handle that one, read on

It's not going to impact BMW sales. Infiniti is after the Lexus/Mercedes customer, in this case the F Sport and AMG variants in particular.

56%/44% front rear weight balance in a RWD car!? Did they even try to go for balance? That's worse than the outgoing Audi S4

2016 BMW 340i  [4.50]
Came from the G37x. I don't think I can go back to Infiniti.

Glad Infiniti is finally putting down some serious power as evidenced in the 109mph trap.

340i manual did 13.3 at 106mph. According to car and driver. I bet the 8AT puts down similar numbers to this 400hp Infiniti. Crazy engine the B58

The Japanese measure hp at the crank while the Germans measure hp at the wheels. This explains why a 320hp German car matches the performance of a 400 hp Japanese car. It has nothing to do with under rating the hp.

BMW "technically" advertises at the crank.

That's stock E92 335is territory.. I'm not impressed and would look for a used IS-F if I wanted a fast 4 door that was Japanese.

Lexus performance shy of the LF-A is a 100% letdown

I drove a 2011 IS-F at the track at autobahn country club and had a lot of fun with it. The straightline speed in the 110-113mph trap speed range is in the ballpark of the E9X M3 as well.

I'd take '11 ISF over this Q50S Red

But I mean, really, I'd take my F80 over all those other 4 doors I mentioned, so

EDIT: Just saw the as tested price of $57.5k on the Q50S. Hopefully there will be some serious discounting, since the euro delivery cost of my car was $60.4k.

I agree, I wouldn't buy this car just happy to see them progress. In reality this car is probably on par acceleration wise with a C450 and a 340i. A member has already posted timeslips of a 340i that are faster than this fwiw.

Could be underrated and might have great tuning potential, maybe?

Same here! Came from (well still have it until 9/2017) a Q50S and jumped into an M4.. LOL!! Rather have a 340i m-sport (track handling...) than RS400!

Based on preliminary data, tuning the RS400 could be quite $$$$$$! Better off getting a 340i and throw a Burger tune on it!
