No biggie. . . it clearly says a new powerkit will be available in late 2013. Thats literally a few months away. Hopefully the new one will give a more significant boost in performance.

They are saying like Thanksgiving, also possibility of not letting dealers code the car to remember the last setting for the start/stop function

Well crap. Here I was thinking about getting a new 335 M-sport and throwing in the MPPK so I could finance it.

I'm more interested in this engine update that's warranting the temporary discontinuation. Does anyone know what's being updated with the N55?

I talked to the SA today and he said that power wont change when re-introduced, he guessed that there was some sort of conflict with the launch feature and PPK software but not 100%

My best guess it that they figured out what is causing Limp-Mode and are changing the car slightly to eliminate the issue. I bet its a pending software overhaul that is being released soon, leaving a few months for the M team to test the PPK for compatability.

They are not changing the Spec of the car so it is likely some small re-engineering.

You can still get it if your not planning to order. Only affected cars with July 1st production. Cars produced before July production, can still have the PPK ordered and installed

Doesn't say specifically, just due to an engine update

I doubt I'd be able to get a 335i M-sport (with or without the options I want) without ordering it, but I guess you never know.

Of course, if there's some big fix coming down the line, I'd probably rather have the new one anyhow, right?

Whatever the "engine update" is, I'm sure it will trickle down as an update, if software based, for other ones produced before July 1st. July production cars already have the update so if you are ordering then you will have the fix

2014>2013.

Get the 2014 and wait for the PPK. I think it's better to experience the car without it for a while and then add the PPK later. You realize 2 things: 1) without PPK the car is great. You may even reconsider getting the PPK. 2) If you then get the PPK you will appreciate what it does for your car. It's like getting a new car twice.

Order the car you want don't worry about PPK it will always be there when the times comes.

By the time you take delivery and break the car in the kit will be back out

Fair points, thanks, guys.

While I'm asking questions, when is the 2014 335 supposed to come out? Is there going to be any real difference, or should I try to get a deal on a 2013 when the '14s start hitting?

BMW typically does not give model year-end discounts. You may have difficulty finding the car that you are looking for. Dealerships will have been scaling back inventory for a few months in anticipation of the new model year.

I just ordered the JB Stage 2 today for my 2014. I hope there won't be any compatible issues.

sux. i ordered mine with port-install option of the MPPK. So I guess my SA will be calling me telling me they can't do that. Now I will have to go back to the dealer 3-4 months later and get it installed?? Then I'll be paying out of pocket rather than having it discounted and financed. I guess its worth it if there is a compatibility issue, however with the launch control feature. i wonder what the "update" really is to the engine... i would think probably the limp mode.

Work something out with them. If you have a signed sales agreement you have some leverage to negotiate.

It's quite interesting that they are considering putting an end to coding out the ASS feature. Is there any more info on that? I can't stand this feature and I will want it OUT asap. Is it something I can do myself provided I know how to use the right software?

I heard differently the other day from my SA, He believes that BMW will code the "Keep the last Mode" into all cars at some point, thus there would be no need to have coding after delivery. SA said lots of customers are opting to have it coded for last mode or off altogether.
